Sounds good. You are doing what the BMV said. You called call them again and see what a different person says. State DMVs deal these things all the time.

Sounds like an excellent plan. Going to intrastate will keep your cdl active until you can get the new physical submitted. Make sure you redo your self certification to reflect interstate when you get your physical.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).
The act of purchasers and sellers transacting business while keeping all transactions in a single state, without crossing state lines to do so.

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.
Excellent plan.
Now "technically" - you should DO IT RIGHT NOW.
Since the heart attack VOIDS your medical card - even if you aren't operating, you are OUT OF COMPLIANCE with both state and federal regs.
While your BMV likely hasn't gotten the news - to remain in legal compliance, you should change your status NOW.
You can do this online at Ohio BMV.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, a clean med exam when you're able, and back behind the wheel ASAP...

Well, unfortunately this is not going smoothly. Had my echocardiogram a few weeks ago and my numbers are not good enough to meet the DOT requirements. There is a measurement called the LVEF that is the problem. Normal is about 50% and above. The DOT requires 40+ and I am at 31%.
Cardiologist put me on some new medicine, Entresto, that is supposed to help raise the number. Pretty sure it is working because my stamina is 100% better since I have been on it and I feel great.
I go back to the cardiologist June 16th and hopefully I can get another echo with passing results. Strange thing is that I had 2 echos done while in the hospital and the last one was 40-45 which would pass. Apparently there is some subjectivity to reading the results.
Ryder has already said that they will find an office job for me but that will be a last resort. I left 27 years of corporate world work to check off the CDL bucket list and I'm not ready to hang it up yet.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

I have a timing issue with my medical card. I have spoken with the BMV and think I have it figured out but I want to run it by the TT Brain Trust as well.
In Feb I had a heart attack and had a blockage removed and a stint installed. A heart attack basically voids your current medical. To get a new one requires a 60 day wait before getting the physical along with a Drs release and passing results from a stress test and an echocardiogram.
My current physical expires May 1st. I have my tests scheduled for May 5th so my card will expire on the BMV system before I will be able to submit a new physical.
The BMV said that won't be a problem but also suggested that I could self certify to a category that does not require a physical to keep my CDL privilages from being removed prior to getting the physical.
My plan is to self certify to intrastate prior to May 1st. I can do that on-line.
Category 3 Non-Excepted Intrastate (exclusively within the State of Ohio) and subject to State driver qualification requirements
Then once I get the new physical taken care of I will submit it to the BMV and be back in business and ready to return to work.
Anyone see any flaws in the plan?
