I was a new driver and I had 3 minor Accidents in 8 months. I guess they r called preventables. Could any one tell me when filling out the job placement app on this site, do I list them when it ask me how many accidents I've had?

You better answer honestly as your new employer will have access to your driving record anyway and will if you are telling the truth or not. By the way how "minor" were the accidents?

Yes any and all accidents in the time period it asks.

What kind of accidents? 3 in 8 months is going to be difficult to over come.

Ok just making sure preventables are the same a accidents. The first one I backed under the king pin and damaged my cab. The second one I backed into a guys fender at the fuel island. The third I ran over a yellow pole and it bent the belly bracket and disconnected the airline. I had been out 8 months as a beginner. I think that was my mistake. Was really tired on the third one.

Also, if you have a chance to explain them and what you learned from each, that could help.

"I should have gotten out and looked." or something to that effect is what they are going to be looking for. Acknowledge and own the behavior, don't minimize or rationalize, and help them to see you as someone that made mistakes, and has learned from them. Last thing you want to do is come across as the driver that believes life is unfair, and that most things are easily explained as someone else's fault.

Good luck to you.

You are entitled to one free DAC report a year....otherwise they are $10. Some incidents are reported immediately and show up the next month. Others don't show up for awhile and some companies wait til you are let go and then report incidents.

DAC Report

Report all incidents, even when not on your DAC. Your old company will have a personnel file on you and companies call each other all the time.

Let us know how it goes.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
