California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law on Friday a State Assembly bill that carves out more exemptions to Assembly Bill 5, commonly known as the independent contractor law, that went into effect this year. Unfortunately for California trucking companies and contract drivers, however, the changes brought by Assembly Bill 2257 do not help California independent contractor drivers, but instead double down on keeping them under the original AB 5 enforcement umbrella.

Why would anyone attempt to go into business in California?

They have been going downhill for years and they just don’t get it. When I retired in 2012 I was in line of over 10k people waiting to be processed. The good folks keep moving out and probably won’t be all that many more years till the fall apart. Elon Musk is even moving Tesla to Tx because he is fed up.

Exactly my thoughts, too.

It's like the giant bureaucracy just can't feed itself enough at the expense (literally) of those citizens that actually produce and contribute.

More pointless regulations, government overreaching, and higher taxes are a reward? People are rightfully leaving the state in droves. When nobody contributes, how will the state sustain itself with those that remain? Higher taxes and greater regulations.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

It is a shame, but all the left wing radicals are running and ruining the state. They are the best evidence their way isn’t sustainable. New business is not moving in and old ones are moving out. They have pushed the largest portion of the dairy industry out and now working on the transportation industry.

I told all my kids they are welcome to build in GA and 2 of them are getting serious about it. Alot of folks are fed up but cannot financially get out.
