Im from.jersey too... Exit 3. Where are u from?
Hello - let me first say how much I appreciate everyone that contributes to this site !! I am currently in the planning stage to get my CDL and CFI is a company I am interested in. I was hoping if someone might know how it works if you do not live near a terminal and cannot take truck home for hometime due to lack of parking near the house (I live in New Jersey) ? Where can I park truck safely, etc ? Also can someone tell me what the CPM rate is for rookie drivers and when and how much does the CPM rate go up if at all during first year of driving,
Thank you
Hi. The pay questions can be answered by any recuiter at CFI. Just give them a call.
As for the home time you can park at any truck stop close to home and get a ride home. Parking can also be found at Kenworth dealer. Any place close to you with permission from owner is also ok.
Hope this helps you out. Steppenwolf
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.
I currently reside in Edison, NJ and grew up further north in Caldwell, NJ. Kearsey if you live in NJ where do you park your truck for hometime ?
I park at a TA in Paulsboro...but I have rented a space at a self storage when I went out for surgery.
What exit is edison? 10ish on turnpike?
Looks like there is a service plaza between exits 8a and 9. There is one just past exit 11 too. Not sure if you can park your truck there for several days in a row but you can always ask them if it's OK. I park at the Flying J near the Delaware Memorial Bridge on home time. I made sure to ask a manager if I could park there for several days. They said it was fine. Might be different for service plazas???
Thanks for all the responses. Edison, NJ is Exit 10 on the New Jersey Turnpike !!!!!
Maybe make a deal with Bordentown Petro. They charge for parking after 2 hours but you might be able to make a deal. Like I said, a sepf storage place may help out
CFI will pay for your transportation, food and hotel during training. They are currently slowly releasing some pay raises, so far for trainers and hasmat loads.
Student pay is 26 CPM while out with a trainer. Once you upgrade you get 35 CPM. By the end of your first year you will hit 41 CPM and at 125,000 miles you will hit 42 CPM.
They get you home when you want or need to be there. Once you upgrade if you haven't found someplace close, they will help you find something. We do have a terminal in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the paperwork info Scott. Is CFI is still using both Truck Dynasty and Crowder College to train drivers ?
