Also to add to it they're not out to fail you. At my first physical the blood pressure reading was really high. They gave me 10 minutes to lay down with the lights off to get my BP down then did it the old way without a machine. They're not out to send you home but they need to be sure you're able to safely operate a large vehicle on the road that could easily kill people.

That is a nice weight off my shoulders. Also, after speaking with my aunt a bit about the blood pressure machine we had, she agreed it's not calibrated properly anymore. So, that's probably the answer as to why I was getting numbers that were so off.

As I am typing this up it is 3:30am and my best friend is passed out in the other bedroom(he's giving me a ride to the bus depot), and I leave for the bus depot in just a few more hours to head out to Colorado for school. I'm nervous, excited, a little scared, but looking forward to the future. This is a MASSIVE step into the unknown for me, and I can't express the amount of excitement, sense of adventure, and happiness it gives me to take this step.

I've got most everything I don't want to part with packed into around 4 boxes alongside some things that can't be packed into boxes(Fishing gear and the like). I've yet to break down my computer, only because it's my only form of entertainment right now and I don't want to end up falling asleep and missing my departure time for the bus. I've conceded that I'll probably be sleeping most of the time on the bus ride out there as I'm looking at a 28 1/2hrs ride ahead of me. I went ahead and downloaded some audio books to my phone, specifically the first 3 Iron Druid Chronicles books(if you've not read/heard them and are into urban fantasy, I HIGHLY suggest you check out this series. It's an AMAZINGLY entertaining series.). Currently my only fear is that my duffel that's packed with most everything for my time at school and beyond is over the 50lb weight limit for the Greyhound, but, we'll see when I get there. I still have to make a stop at Walmart or somewhere to get a pad of paper, which I had COMPLETELY forgotten to pick up in my extreme haste of getting everything ELSE together. I've got a backpack filled with most of the requirements I'll need for school(Truck stop guide, road atlas, birth certificate, and references sheet), and I've got a nice giant sub from Jersey Mike's wrapped up and packed into a tupperware container in the fridge which will end up in the backpack and eaten in sections throughout the bus ride. I've also got a little can of pistachios I'll be bringing. Only thing missing is some drinks(probably going to grab a couple can's diet pepsi and some bottles of water). Well, I should get pack to packing and loading up the car. Hopefully the next post will be from either the bus mid-trip, or from when I get the school in Colorado.

Until then, drive safe.

It is current 2pm in Keenesburg and I'm settled into my bed and dorm. It's alot nicer than I thought it would be and this town is THE smallest town I've ever been in. While unpacking I did find I forgot some essential things in my haste to pack back home. So I'm hoping I can get an address so my buddy can overnight them to me.

The bus ride was rough, never ridden greyhound anywhere and this was a different experience. Caught up on sleep, as best I could. Bus broke down at 1 spot so we were running late but made it up by skipping a few stops that weren't needed.

Going to be taking today to relax a bit, seems like most of the house took off to explore the small town, I might head out for something to eat a little later though and get some studying in today.

When you go out there to eat, remember one thing: absolutely ZERO alcohol the entire time your there as a student.

Glad you made it there in one piece.

Good luck starting the journey tomorrow morning, too!

Yeah....easier for me because I'm not a drinker anyway. Went to Chuys for dinner.....best Mexican I've had in a looooong time.

Today was pretty uneventful. Took a nice(and by nice I mean frigging COLD....seriously it got down 13 degrees...I was not prepared..), LONG walk to the local Cafe for breakfast. Seemed a bit over priced, but was well worth it. Food was amazingly good and portion size was perfect. After eating we(me and the 3 others who came with) walked over to the dollar general to get a few things. Got me a pair of gloves and a beanie(found my original ones I packed after I got home.....yep...) and some small things to eat at the house. Did get a ride back from the dollar general by a nice old lady, she offered the ride and was an absolute GOD SEND. Rest of the day was spent studying. House was quiet due to all 11 of us in the house studying. Tomorrow is the official start date. I'm feeling pretty confident now that I'm here and in some sort of a groove. I know this is a bit short but nothing more to really say. Time to study some more then get to bed pretty early. Hoping to get up early enough to hit the shower before the rest of the house wakes up.

So first day is in the books. Just got settled back into the house. Started off rough, the shuttle that was supposed to pick us up and shuttle us to the class room had its brakes frozen so we all walked the half mile to school is 8 degree weather....but..I made the walk with no rest breaks. Kind of proud of myself for that one because I am NOT, or rather HAVEN'T been, an active person in years. Got our DOT physicals today.....which I passed! Barely scrapped by but I did it. So that's one more MASSIVE weight off my shoulders...now it's just down to the dedication I put into studying. I'm really confident I'll be able to pass these tests, not trying to be OVER confident, but just enough that I'm not stressing over it. Filled out a bunch of paperwork and got to do some grocery shopping. Also got another ride back to the house, these locals are super nice. Tomorrow we're going to be out on the range for most of the day and then doing permit prep. Wednesday and Thursday are permit testing. As for now, it's time to study.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
