Thanks Robert!
That is some bitter cold weather coming your way. I experienced that fuel gelling issue once in my career. Lesson learned! I don't want to go through that again. I was actually on my way to get fuel, and I was within about fifteen miles of my stop, but my fuel was really low. That's when I learned to ignore the company's fuel stop in extreme weather. I should have fueled up earlier. Had I not let my fuel get so low it probably wouldn't have gelled. That computer calculating the best fuel stops doesn't take the extreme weather into consideration. Be safe guys and gals - that's a nasty cold snap moving into that area.
Winter finally hits!
Great points--be prepared ahead of time. Don't wait until it's too late.

I was wondering when it would show up lol. It’s currently -21 wind chill at my house.
And what a coincidence! Ny next trip starts Monday from Virginia to Hutchison, Minnesota.

If anyone is in my neck of the woods (western Minnesota) this weekend and mid week next week, make sure to keep your tanks topped off and dosed with anti gel. We’re about to have a cold weather snap with wind chills down around -40 so please prepare in advance. Also, for the newer drivers and all drivers for that matter, don’t risk your life or care for the load. Use the 511 apps and check road conditions before heading out, take your time and turn on your CB. The winds will cause blowing snow which will definitely ice over making for a nasty surprise. When in doubt, wait it out, call your dispatch and let them re schedule.
