Also, maybe someone with experience in filing trucker taxes (Kearsey maybe) can speak to being able to write it off at the end of the year as a expense. Something I am also looking for the answer to.

Itemized company expenses as write offs for company drivers ended more than two years ago when the standard deduction amount doubled.

Does anyone know of a programable GPS unit??? I have been searching for one for a few years now to no avail. I would like to plan my trips out of the map and manually enter it into the GPS as a backup but cant seem to find any with that option. I traveled by map long before GPS units came out and enjoy planning my route from paper.

Obviously I don't need a GPS to get somewhere but they are nice for alerting you of upcoming exits and turns

I'm not sure if this is what you need, but look at this Garmin unit and search "waypoints" in the Amazon questions. https://smile.amazon.com/Garmin-Navigator-Touchscreen-Display-Guidance/dp/B0884WMBW4/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=garmin+truck+gps&qid=1618949966&sr=8-3

One Amazon customer states the unit can store up to 1,000 waypoints. My son hasn't used his in this manner but I've used a Garmin for a 4 wheeler before for entering locations that didn't have addresses.

I do that all the time on my RM 740.

"Dad" doesn't help me, either.

(disclaimer: I'm jes an ol' taxpayer with an ol' taxpayer's idea yeah.)

A Trucker GOS would be a specialized tool for use in your trade. That's deductible, I think. But then unless it couldn't be separated from usual family expenses maybe you're standard deduction would win that round.

Thanks for the replies. Couldn’t find any info about the programable feature in the product descriptions so I figured I’d ask here
