Hay you;

I know ya bounce in & out of other threads, and I seem to chase you (randomly) there! Sorry!! I tend to 'do that.' I've been dubbed the 'MommaAnne' or otherwords, of Trucking Truth. Most are kind, so I'll graciously accept; haha!

In all consideration; could you (we?) keep THIS thread going....so maybe our seasoned vets & mods and our 'SUCCESS STORIES' (ie: Chief Brody, Davy, ...and omg SO MANY to list! ...) can find you .. and keep up with 'whats up?'

Just my 2cents, Canaan. Only wishing you the best!

Oh no! Seems you tracked me down! Haha, and what do you mean keep up with what's up? Might be too tired to understand at the moment

Hay, Canaan;

I just meant, letting us know how things are moving along, with your plight of getting into trucking!!

Hope all is well,

~ Anne ~

Ahh alright. I understand. Currently right now I am undergoing a bunch of testing, mri, blood work, nerve testing, all kinds of stuff. Potentially MS, but not sure yet. I've been almost stuck in bed for this entire year so far, with bad days and then worse days. My old Dr's didn't care about the problems I was having and said I was fine. So I have moved on to cleveland clinic and they are performing all these tests now.

Before this year I was healthy as an ox, never got sick (aside from sinus infections, but I have now gotten a sinus surgery that seems to have fixed that entire problem)

Because of basically being on bed rest most of this year once I opted into getting physical therapy and once I get some answers and get clearance, I plan on getting back into a gym. I have to recondition myself to being able to drive distance, or even stay a functioning human for over 4 hours at a time. It has been one hell of a struggle this year for me

Hey everyone, I am under heavy consideration to get my cdl and be a trucker, but I have some health problems (that have yet to be diagnosed, it's a on going process currently.)

I was wondering if anyone was willing to share any personal challenges they had to overcome (and how they achieved doing so) in order to make it as a trucker.

No pressure for anyone to share, I know that some personal challenges are best left unspoken.

Thanks! -Canaan

Insulin dependent diabetic here. Had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get going in trucking the first time around 6 years ago. Had a couple years out of the seat and back at it this year. Way fewer hoops this time and technology has advanced to where it isn’t so bad managing my illness most of the time. Still has its days but I’m doing flat bedding now and loving it. Good luck to you—I really hope you’re able to overcome whatever is going on with your body so you can join us out here. It’s a blast

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Thank you for the reply! I also hope I am able to find out what's going on. I crave the open road and the ability to make 3x more a year than I ever made before
