Hi, Brandon & welcome to Trucking Truth!
Big Scott should be along shortly, with answers to your CFI questions; in the meantime, read some of our 'starter pack' material, here, so you'll be better prepared:
Best wishes; stick around & keep us updated, ask away!

A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Welcome to CFI. We are governed at 65 MPH. If you have a passport and request to run to Canada, they will send you. It's extra money and not mandatory. If you're OTR you will find yourself everywhere. You could get stuck in an area for a few days. When you are a few days out from requested home time, you will be running within a day to two days area from home.
Best advice roll with it, training can be stressful.
Good luck.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

So I've made the decision to apply to CFI's student driver program here in the next few months, and I just had a few questions.
1. How often do you find yourself in Canada? I've seen on their website that you can find yourself up there for a few weeks at a time, but how often does that happen? And what parts?
2. Are the trucks limited to a certain speed? I've looked everywhere, but cannot find an answer lol
3. Where do you find yourself spending the most of your time? Out west? Southeast? Midwest? Up north? Or is it just all over the place all of the time?
4. Finally, do you just have any tips for a young guy like me that'll help make the whole process a little easier? Anything I need to know or do before applying and heading off to school? What to look out for? What to study the most?
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
