If the DC one can get off the ground, I'm planning on renting a tractor and attending. I don't think my present employer would appreciate me taking their tractor. But brings up a question, do we bother with logs if we're protesting? Actual real question. I'm technically not under a load doing that.

I would think not, since you are essentially in a private, not-for-hire vehicle.

I think HOS are for commercial vehicles, and if you privately rent in your own name, it is just a rental. I asked once at Penske, they do rent tractors and trailers to CDL holders, and they said I didn't need any logs if it was a personal use.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

There is progress being made in Canada from the Freedom Convoy protests.

I’ve seen several posts today about various government agencies in different Provinces agreeing to drop rules such as taxing the unvaccinated, vax mandates, etc. The Conservative Party voted to replace their weak leader.

I tried to include a link to a video in my Google Photos but can’t get it to work. The supporters of the Freedom Convoy are holding hands in circles singing “We Are The World” waving Canadian flags. A trucker honks along. Very cool peaceful protest.
