It's official! I waited to post this until I had final confirmation, and it came today while I was sleeping before my last shift of my current job, which I'm currently at. I applied through the app here on 9/23, and Veriha called me shortly after it was submitted. The wheels have been in motion since then. The only thing holding up this last bit was the clinic that did my urine and hair tests made some error with the chain of custody, but that was sorted out and they got those final results. In addition to that was a strength test where they strapped me to a machine and one limb at a time had to push and pull with all my might for 5 reps, 25 second break, 5 more reps.

This was really cutting it close, as once I had the conditional offer and knowing training starts on 10/17, I gave my two weeks notice at work. Luckily it all came through!

TT has guided my career switch so much already, as I've been researching the industry via this site for so many years, and then the abundance of training offered right here made getting my CLP a breeze.

I just ordered a laptop, not sure if it will arrive before I head to Marinette, WI, so if I do a training diary, which I'd like to, remains to be seen.

Thanks so much to all you awesome people here for everything so far and everything to come, this is a very exciting time for me!

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated

CLP:

Commercial Learner's Permit

Before getting their CDL, commercial drivers will receive their commercial learner's permit (CLP) upon passing the written portion of the CDL exam. They will not have to retake the written exam to get their CDL.

Sandman, great news! I hope you like yellow, the distinctive color of Veriha. The training diary would be interesting to follow as you go through training. Good luck with your new career.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

BK not as pretty as your new rig for sure, congrats on that! Blue is my favorite color, but I'll be in the yellow as I get my new career rolling...I'll just be glad to be handed the keys to anything!

Veriha is a pretty sweet company. They have an entertainment division, which is pretty unique for a company that hires inexperienced drivers.

Congrats, Sandman!!!

That's great news, man. Hope you'll procure a diary, if you have time, too.

Wow, I'd be all about looking into the entertainment division..."This Is How We Roll!"
