That's one of the three big cities I've not been to yet: Corpus, San Fran, and Brownsville.

I regularly stay out for weeks on recaps as well, as OS said, it's a chess game figuring out what you need, how it will effect next week and how much you have left on your 70. Another decision to be made is if you have enough work to max your 70 as well as when your pick up and delivery times are.

Old School, Im Down in Texas too, pulling a reset in Dallas, not because I need to, have decent recaps, doing some house hunting. If you stop by the Hutchins yard for any reason I'll be around to Weds.

What is the maximum amount of hours you can run so you can be able to always run that same amount of hours and don’t have to do a reset or recaps

Jonathan K., like the others said, it can easily be done and just requires some planning. I'm gonna give you food for thought, that comes only from my experience.

I found that running recaps was easier when I drove for Schneider. Because I was dry van , almost all of my loads were drop/hook and those loads usually had open window delivery times, not set appointments. My job for the past 5+years, has included a much higher percentage of live load/unload. Having said that, my current job rarely has me needing to run recaps; its more likely if I choose to keep running without a 34hr reset.

I only offer this information, because it's possible that the amount of planning you'll need to do (in order to use recaps) may vary depending on what type of freight you're hauling and whether it's drop/hook or deliveries requiring unload times.

I hope this helps.

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

I'm running recaps right now myself. Had a small layover in Orlando that wasn't quite 34 hours but enough to buy time to collect on last week's hours. It has been a fun time for sure.
