My sister is a recruiter for a major trucking company, today she told me she had to reject a couple drivers recently because they left their drug tests and had been marked down as a refusal.

She said one claimed the place said he could leave to pickup his son and other supposedly stepped outside for a smoke.

Remember, DOT drug tests are more strict than others.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Wow, that's a pretty harsh penalty. Refusal is the same as failure, which could be a career-ending ordeal.

I guess "follow directions closely" is the lesson of the day!

Just went through this. Went in for physical and dot , got the shy bladder and waited a solid 2 1/2 hours pacing the lobby since you can't leave while trying to test XD

LOL At CRST, right after my 1 year, or so, we were on a CAT load I forget where, back east. We just missed the entry, and our DM calls me. So as we're getting turned around to go deliver, @ guard shack I call him back, I got popped for a random drug& alcohol test. Ok no problem, we swap out, and I await the Uber to pick me up. DM said make sure they do BOTH tests, Breath & Pee. Good thing he specified, because the DR forgot to do breath test, so I reminded him I also HAD to have that done too !! Was Uber'd back in time to CAT place to meet up with my co driver who had barely just got unloaded, headed out the gate.

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
