Apart from the very convenient 'one application for several companies' option on this great site, are there any good web sites that focus on trucking opportunities? Like a ZipRecruiter or Indeed but for trucking jobs?

Indeed is usually my go to, since I focus on local. When I was interested in OTR , I would use driver pulse.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

There are several, but be warned - most of them are low-traffic, all of them are employer-focused and at least 80% of the ads are the same ones you'll see on Indeed or Craigslist (transport):

Alltruckjobs.com

CDLJobs.com

JobsInTrucks.com

HiringDriversNow.com

ClassADrivers.com

As far as a driver-focused job board - where you can just say, "I've got > 1M safe, legal miles under my belt without a ticket or an accident and I want a dedicated route for at least $30/hr with no touch freight, no camera in my face and no driving in Mexico's Gay District" - that's NOT available. You have to scan through 100's of ads then call a recruiter with your questions about pay, hometime and working conditions.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Dedicated Route:

A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."

Not sure where he's referring to exactly, I'm thinking Los Angeles somewhere. It's a derogatory term that he's used several times.
