Hey!

I work for a software company and am researching how truck drivers handle paperwork while on the road (such as BOLs, PoD documents, etc.).

I was wondering, how you submit your paperwork (e.g. by scanning documents on the phone)? Are there any issues with this? Are you happy with your solution?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

My company provides us with a tablet with software that allows us to take a pic of the BOL and submit it electronically. Then I file the paper BOL into an accordion filer I keep in the truck.

Every once in a while a picture is too blurry, but that is rare. They will contact me and ask to resend.

Signed Bills of Lading (delivered) are most drivers' paycheck. So we are motivated to get the papers to the office as soon as possible. The most common way is a scanning app on our phones - either a proprietary company one or one available in the app store.

Still around is the truck stop scanner (Transflo) - basically an automated desktop scanner. I don't know what would happen if you stopped at a terminal and handed signed bills through the dispatch window.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Errol, I had a question about one of my bills and I was at our terminal. So I took the bills into the office and asked the lady who processes the bills. Then I asked her if she still wanted me to Transflo them in. She said no, and walked 10 feet over to the office scanner and Transflo’d them in to herself. So I guess one way or another they have to get into electronic form. Lol.

With CRST I used Transflo on my cell, saved the paperwork for months "In case" they ever asked for em. Burned em later......

@ Legends, we used an app they had/used,I forget the name, sometimes it was "iffy" going thru. Numerous times the ladies would call me to resend. We also carried manila envelopes to save the papers, until we were in the terminal to hand em all in for the month. And we had a "inventory" list to write each BOL down in order, along with the BOL's.
