Hello Dan. That’s an interesting question. My guess is that no company or school will know about the complaint unless you disclose it voluntarily. I don’t think you are under obligation to disclose it. Companies don’t hire private investigators to do an exhaustive background check on each applicant.
Is the complaint in the public record anywhere?
I was a school teacher (California) before jumping into a truck. A student had made a SH complaint to the principal. (This one was totally made up by said student.) The principal asked me about it, and I never heard anything about it again.
Prior employers by law, are NOT "supposed" to disclose anything in your "personal file" with them. They are only allowed to confirm ,you worked there, and if, you are re-hireable or not. Especially being it was not a trucking related job any ways.In your case, I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I am looking into trucking and have many questions but have found this site invaluable! My first question is about sexual harrassment. I am leaving the teaching profession after 11 years and have a sexual harrassment complaint. Like, I made the wrong joke to the wrong person. There are no criminal charges or anything like that, my background checks all clean. Will a complaint like that at my old job in my personnel file affect my chances at a trucking company? Thanks
