Here's a link to The Persian Conversion's story. It's worth reading.

The Life, Death, and Resurrection of my Career

I just keep thinking it's important to add something to this conversation. For anybody new to this industry, or even those just curious, it is almost unheard of for a driver to be considered "not at fault" for a rollover accident.

I'm hoping Ryan can be employed again, but I fear he may not be as eligible as he wants to believe when it comes to being a driver. I don't think he's misleading us or anything like that. I'm just saying his opera may not be over until the fat lady sings. Right now everybody at his company is glad he's alive and well, just as we are. As time goes by, some considerations by folks higher in the chain of command can certainly affect him.

We all wish the best for him. I remember our member "Persian Conversion" surviving a rollover and driving again, but it's really unusual.

Some excellent points here. To use a phrase, we have been in a "honeymoon phase." Once the shine of "glad Kerry is alive" wears off, it's certainly possible that someone decides that there is too much of an insurance risk by having me in a driver's seat.

This message board is replete with drivers sharing incidents where the company told them that the incident wasn't considered their fault or wasn't a big deal, yet some time later, that driver is fired.

Old School, you have seen it all, just about, so I am not going to even try to tell you that my situation is different. There is absolutely no possible way for me to know that my situation will be different. Maybe I prove to be that small exception. Maybe I choose to do something else other than driving before learning whether or not my company is willing to put me back in a driver's seat. Maybe I decide to go back to driving, but my company decides that it won't be with them.

Every situation is different from the next. No two companies are exactly the same. I will just have to wait and see what the future holds for me. Ultimately, it's in God's hands, so it's to His will that I submit myself.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Good grief man glad you’re okay! I gotta ask though because I’ve been racking my brain since you posted this.

What the heck did you catch your arm, and head on?

When I rolled over, my hand and arm got pinned to the ground as the truck slid on its side for several hudred feet. My window was closed, but the truck hitting pavement shattered the window and left my arm exposed to the pavement and broken glass. I didn't react in time to get my arm out of harm's way. I was in mental shock with the truck going over. My head was injured by a cooler that was between the two seats and just behind them. As I rolled over, the cooler caught airborne and struck my head.
