My truck has a built in antenna, I just do a channel search when ever I want to find a local channel.

My subject of expertise, some of you may know and some of you may not but I'm a huge gamer and yes I truck! No need to waste your time on a Hot Spot and have your Data Capped. I can only tell you what I do and how it works for me but I have Sprint and yes everyone complains about their Data coverage but really, you can't beat the price and the unlimited data. So with that said Tethering is they way to go. I'm currently sitting in Casper, Wyoming at their only Flying J and my Data is on Roaming but guess what. "It works just fine!" Free roaming people.. Plus Sprint is about to buy out T-Mobile and it will help in some of their coverage but not by as much as you would like.

Apps I use for internet:

PDANET or Klink, I prefer PDANET and you only pay $4.99 once in your lifetime and you get to use your internet from your cell phone to your Laptop, Computer or what ever Windows based hardware and get this... They also have a Hotspot feature that you can enable if your connected to one of your devices. So that means you cant hook up as many devices to your internet as you want.

Sold yet? or do you wanna run out and pay $200 to Verizon monthly when you can only pay Sprint $80 or less

What about just using a smart phone as a hotspot rather than buying one? If I watch my usage, why would I need to get anything else or use some sort of extra software? If you try to explain again, keep in mind I'm not a technical wizard, I am technically a smart ass though ;)

My phone is my Hot Spot! Paying a one time fee for PDANET for $4.99 from the Google Market allows me to use my internet from my phone via Tethering. You can get Hot Spot that the Carrier provides but your Data will be limited you risk Overages. I'm not sure how old you are or if you've got kids or Grand Kids but if you do mention it to them and I guarantee you they will know exactly what you are talking about.

LOL, not THAT old! I'm 37 but have been somewhat of a Luddite over the past few years, especially when I see ppl falling down manholes because they are glued to their smart phones. I've heard of this tethering. So, I need a third party app to do this w/ my S4 Galaxy? What device gets the app install?

Who's your Carrier, if you say Verizon just forget about Tethering but it does work on your S4. Verizon is like Apple, bunch of money grubbing Nazi's that restrict what you can and can't do.

To me, Verizon is for pretentious people that wanna feel important because they have a high cell phone bill and the best coverage but I've got news for these folks. I save $$$ and get equally as good coverage.

Ahh... football. I'll have to figure that one out while on the road. Radio is OK, would prefer to watch my beloved Steelers in action, especially when they thrash the Ravens.

Woo Hoo let's hear it for the Steelers fans here! I and several others are Steelers fans on Trucking Truth. Steelers nation is alive and well!!!!! dancing-banana.gif

I was just thinking about these things while daydreaming about a new career. Do most new trucks have satellite radio? I thought I read prime did. Do most trucks have built in tv antennas? I was planning to take my laptop with movies on a hard drive and Netflix as backup but if I could pull in tv stations sometimes that might be cool for news and sports sometimes.

AT&T

Not sure the whole thing about a Sprint buying out T-Mobile is true. First because they run two different type networks, Sprint using cdma and T-Mobile using gsm. Secondly after AT&T failed to buy them out last year or whatever it was, they've become a much bigger player in the game and it wouldn't make sense for them to sell at this point. So I wouldn't count on that as a merger anytime soon.

Just find a plan that offers unlimited data, no contract, and buy an unlocked phone. Most unlocked phones come with the option to tether out hotspot anyway.

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I drive for Prime and my truck has built in TV antenna and satellite radio, you have to pay the subscription. I drive a full size I don't know about the lightweight trucks.
