Hey Matt... I drive for werner and you can have passengers once you are finished training and assigned your own truck.
while training however you nor your trainer are allowed passengers.
Really? i will look into them. how long is training?
Perhaps your soon to be wife would like to get her cdl also. I currently drive teams with my brother with Werner and they have plenty of team freight. With both your checks going into the same account you will not have any money worries that is for sure.
Can't tell ya about the training since we came in with experience. The equipment is top notch and the insurance can't be beat. Now Werner does not have a school but if you go the private schooling route you should not have any issues getting on with Werner as long as your driving record and back ground passes.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
I am not sure if you are looking for company-sponsored CDL training or want to go to school and then do a training with a company that hires inexperienced drivers. In your case, don't choose Stevens Transport, Celadon Trucking, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Covenant, or CRST, because they require team driving before going solo.
Where do you live?
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
If you wife wants to join you then those companies are good.
They dont let husband and wife train together do they?
No, you will have to train separately. but as soon as you are done you can team drive together. Team driving is a little tough on a rookie team, so don't expect to be making top dollar right off the bat. It will take you about a year to really get the hang of everything, but after that you should be able to make some very decent money as a couple.
C R England allow the couples to train together. They also allow to have two students and one trainer in one truck. Three people in one cab. However, you may be together with your wife in one truck with a trainer.
You just need to make sure that you graduate to the same time. They have a special husband and wife team program. You just need to specify in your application that you want to be a husband and wife team. This program is only for husband and wife teams. Girlfriend/boyfriend or siblings are not included in that program. I try to find the program and give you a link.
When I applied to Stevens Transportation, I remember that there were three options: 1. Solo 2. Team 3. Husband/Wife Team. They ask if I want to drive solo, team, or husband and wife team. I guess they have a program as well.
Also check Celadon Trucking.

Hey Matt.....nobody wants to be away from their loved ones a minute longer than is necessary but in this case it's far more important to choose the right company than it is to choose a company that will allow your wife to come along a little bit sooner. That's short-term thinking and you don't want to do that, especially when you're talking about a massive new career and lifestyle change. Take your time, sort through your priorities for pay, benefits, home time, equipment, types of freight, and factors like that. Then narrow it down to the companies you feel will suit you best and apply to those. In the end you want to pursue the best opportunity for a great start to your career for yourself and your family, not just a quick start to having your wife riding along. If she has to wait at home for a few extra weeks to make sure you guys land at the best company for yourselves it will be well worth it.

I am 22 years old and have previously worked over the road as a mechanic on a train. I was gone for months at a time.My dad also drove truck for many years until cancer took his arm and his ability to drive. So i am familiar with the travel and the missing your family. How ever i am looking to get into truck driving. I have always wanted to drive truck and currently a mechanic on them. I was wondering if there are any companies that provide training that are not always over the road. Me and my soon to be wife actually met while traveling. I am looking for a company that could have a rider policy and trying not to sound pathetic but does not take long to be able to have a passenger or local companies to train until i have experiance . any ideas?

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
