On another note those three or four days at that truck stop got interesting. The restaurant ran out of food and couldn't get any more delivered. The poor saps who weren't prepared in their trucks to face such a crisis were starting to get a little crazy. I fed more than my share of ill prepared truckers during that time. You should always have several days worth of food on your truck.

Truckstops and I'll through in rest areas too, are like anywhere else. Some are great, some are good, some ok, and others total trash. As long as you are cautious you'll be fine. I had the pleasure staying at a brand new, paint smell still in the air Love's in Dayton Ohio. Beautiful place. Then I noticied they have 24 hr armed security. I couldn't resist. I had to ask why. I was told the area around the truck stop had its own issues so they didnt want any of it coming into or onto their business and is more a deterent for locals than its customers.

When this TS first opened someone was shot. Thats the reason for it. Google the story but it was the first week it opened.

Awe, I completely understand.......... However, empathy is important. I really don't think they chose it. And, as I have stated I am an idealist; a person who represents things as they might or should be rather than as they are: So sad really.

I agree... Whether it's a "lot lizard " (More a lost soul) or a trucker, We really have no idea of their circumstances. My friend who actually got me interested in Roehl told me stories of sitting in a lot, just chatting with one of the girls, hot cup of coffee on a cold day, she might take off for a bit, then come back to warm up. Now, i could or could not believe his story, i choose to. A good deed of sorts. Heh...

I don't know what they are called in aviation but I ran into a lot lizard in a FBO. I had just flown to Ames and was checking out the new pilot lounge when I met this beautiful blond woman in a business suit. She asked me if I needed a hotel and I said no thanks, just checking out the place. I then asked how much hotel was. She said 185 dollars. I said "that's pretty high." With a wink she said " 85 of it is for the hotel"

I just cringe when I see these women crawl into a truck of someone they don't know. Who's more nasty, the women or the men who use them? If you think about these women are someone daughter, maybe someone's mother.

You betcha coleen... I have an older teenage daughter myself.. It's... Disturbing... To say the least. An uncomfortable truth that sometimes people have very little values in themselves and/or for others...
