Welp, I applied to prime over the internet and now I'm even more nervous! lol, and to add onto all that nervousness was having to read through all those DOT and federal pages that I had to consent to and words like "adverse action taken against you" my cheeks are so red now lol.
I however got really ****ed off because after I finished there was some sort of number that they recommend that I write down, and as I reached across the keyboard to grab a piece of paper I accidentally hit something on the keyboard that took me away from the screen, and now you cannot get back to it :( oh well.....at least I actually did it.
See, that did not hurt at all and no animals were harmed during the application process.
Just relax and have fun.
Took me 5 tries to get my license...
1. Put me in a truck that I had never driven before and it had a 12.7 detroit with a 10 speed. All I had driven to that point was a Cat with a 13 speed. I could not downshift to save a cat that day. Drove the truck all the way home and shifted like a pro... go figure. Passed the pretrip and backing that day though. 2. Boss got sick and could not take me. 3. Boss refused to replace a tire on the trailer and they would not let me test. 4. Boss would not replace the windshield... No test that day. 5. Finally go to take the road test in the truck I was familiar with... passed and been on my own ever since.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Ugh now if only my current work schedule would stop interfering with my ability to actually get my recruiter on the phone, we keep leaving each other voice mails because we keep missing each other. Worse case scenario I finally get a hold of her on my day off this Tuesday.
Email correspondence might be a better option in that situation.
Yeah she also sent me an email about giving her a call the day after I had filled the application. I might respond to it about a good time to get a hold of her.
I just spoke to my recruiter at Prime on Friday (Nov. 14th). I read over as much information as I could on this site and Prime's to answer as many of my own questions as I could and prepare myself for anything they might ask me like I would for any other interview. Then I wrote down all the questions that I had and/or wasn't sure about so I was prepared to fire them off without having to think or forget about them.
My recruiter said based on my application it appeared I met all the minimum requirements and just asked me to confirm that I worked at my last company for the previous 3 years.
He didn't really have a lot of other questions. Then he got into when I would be able to start training.
I guess the conversation might vary bases on your application and the recruiters personality. My recruiter seemed to be less enthusiastic on the call than I was, but that could have just been because it was Friday and he was ready for the weekend.

Prime Recruiting Number
The phone call shouldn't take long. They will just go over your application and ask you simple questions then they'll tell you that they'll call you back. They need some time for the background check.
I say call early in the morning because that's the best time to reach a recruiter. These recruiters are swamped as soon as they sit down. I actually spoke in person to a part-time recruiter at Prime and he says he has about 75 applications he is communicating with daily, and about 100 sitting in the pile waiting for him to get to them. And he's a part time recruiter who is actually retired and just works there on the side. Can you imagine what a full time recruiter has on their desk?
Applicants who don't do the calling typically end up in that pile. Do the calling and do it often.
