If you click on the FREE map Applicationon your smart phone, put your thumb in the Search Box at the top. A keyboard pops up. Write "Historic" or "Museum". Click the arrow. All the interesting sites in your area pop-up on a map as links. I have taken a commuter train to see the captured German U-Boot in the Chicago Museum of Science and History, I saw the Russian Sub next to the Queen Mary, (Truck accessible), visited the Capitol while parked in Virginia, looked off the Highway at Little Bighorn, (not truck accessible at exit except by arrangement,) visited dozens of air museums by calling ahead for parking arrangements. Pensacola Naval Air Museum and the US Air Force Museum in Dayton were the best. If you are polite you can usually arrange parking. Dayton had good parking. Try famous foods from cities like a Philly Cheese Steak or a Parmannti Brothers sandwich in Pittsburgh. Often you can ask the shipper where you can park at an abandoned building to visit a beach. I have carried a Schwinn Hinge folding bicycle to bicycle around British Columbia or Los Angeles. In the winter I had Swiss Mountain skis for ski troopers that converted from downhill to cross country. They were great to jump out and ski a hiking trail in the Cascades. (Ask about special clothes that will save your life in sub zero temps). They fit my work boots too. Sometimes I would go foraging, and once I inflated a kayak to explore damaged boats

My company pays $50 for a reset away from home. Twice now, I have used that $50 to rent a small car from Enterprise (they pick you up), and go exploring. In North Carolina, the dog & I spent the day hiking in a National Forest. From Flagstaff, we went to Sedona to hike in the red rock country. A complete change of scenery, we were not truckers for a day.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Usually you end up staying awake longer than you should, and end up wishing you had another 8hrs to sleep.

Yes..... That is so true. On another note...... I have not thought of Pinky and The Brain in 25 years. My son loved that show when he was a kid. Now I am showing my age...... Never mind!

I'm on a 34 right now, and we're going to rent a car to tour the area today. Exploring is what I live for

I'm about to Uber it to a bike shop in Dallas and buy a road bicycle.. Afterwards I'm sure I'll do as it was pointed out earlier and stay up longer than I should. But hopefully my future 34s will be even more interesting.

some of you guys are lucky- Meaning the ability to rent a car .. Those who do not own 1 credit card (nor can get one) are kinda screwed unless we (or i) can be able to come up with the $ to get a money order in the amount of 300$ deposit.. just reading that made me cringe.. enterprise changed their policy on renting with the regards to using prepaid credit/debt cards. So that leaves me either stuck or forced to uber or taxi which is still a bit of coin. I THINK ideally any shopping needs (food) will have to happen while enroute and if i want to treat my self to a pizza - they're gona have to take my word for it and believe i am where i am to deliver it ! LOL ..

don't think many if any companies will allow you to use the tractor to scoot around sight seeing in esp on a 34 hr reset .. your not suposed to be driving the rig to begin with .. thus why its a 34 hr reset.. lol.
