I picked up a loaded (and sealed) trailer at our yard in Dallas that came from Laredo and Mexico before that. We found this crap along with two wallets (1 male, 1 female with pesos) and a necklace mixed in with the cargo (hardwood furniture) when I delivered in Oklahoma this morning. Some furniture was damaged and, as you can see, they busted out a light hole in our brand new trailer.

It appears some illegals were smuggled over to Laredo, either got caught and left their stuff behind, or ran like hell and left it behind. I am guessing they knew someone at our Laredo yard because it was resealed there. Oh well, they are probably sitting up in a nice hotel by now on our dime.

Fabulous! Do you suspect this is a sign of things to come, or does this happen often enough anyway?

My first time and the consignee said it was their first one too. I have pulled loads originating in Mexico many times and nothing like this has ever happened.

Consignee:

The customer the freight is being delivered to. Also referred to as "the receiver". The shipper is the customer that is shipping the goods, the consignee is the customer receiving the goods.

With all that evidence left behind, I doubt they were caught (at least not in the Laredo yard). Most likely, there is someone there making $$ for opening and resealing the doors for a "travel agent" in Mexico.

Is there some protocol for picking up and transporting sealed trailers? Does a driver typically have a "right" to break and re-seal in order to inspect the cargo? How does that work? Sounds incredibly dangerous if not.

With our company, if it is sealed, don`t touch it. Law enforcement can open the doors (of course). I don`t know about the danger part. This looked to be a family, so, it would definitely knock me out of my "cool" zone for a bit, but, we would just have to call law enforcement and let them handle it so I could roll on.

Funny, I just picked up a Mexico load from Lorado today. In fact, I'm currently at the Flying J here.

I'll be sure to triple check everything. But honestly, with the way that I drive I don't think they'll survive the ride if there is anyone in there. smile.gif

Ha! I didn't think of that. They would have been beaten up for sure in the back of my trailer. Some messed up roads between Dallas and the Oklahoma/Arkansas line at I 40.

Are the taco trucks still parked on the road between the truck stops?

I thought you were with "touring logistics" RT? How is that going?
