Have you puled a DAC on yourself to see what's on there? You can get one FOR FREE HireRight - Request A Free Copy Of My Background Report.
If you've been through FIVE COMPANIES in 12 months - there's a VERY GOOD CHANCE that one (or more) have put something negative on your DAC Report. Get a copy and SEE. You can DISPUTE entries (they are just like CREDIT REPORTS, and are governed by the FCRA - Fair Credit Reporting Act).
Even if there's nothing negative on your DAC - job hopping like that is a SERIOUS RED FLAG for trucking companies. Even two or three trucking jobs in the first year - will put you under additional scrutiny - but FIVE? Kinda indicates to companies that you are a "problem child" (even if you had "legitimate reasons").
Out of curiosity - WHAT WERE those "legitimate reasons"?
You may have really screwed yourself here - as "legitimate reasons" to you - may simply sound like WHINING to a prospective company.
EVERY TRUCKING COMPANY has it's "ups & downs" - especially for a NEWBIE. The most common advice is to TOUGH IT OUT for the first year.
Job hopping of this magnitude is the KISS OF DEATH in this industry.
USA Truck - hear good and bad - nothing really that would keep you from not sticking it out. Werner - Low pay for beginners - but there are a few guys on the site that have stayed on with them. Celadon - aside from low pay for beginners - I haven't really heard too much bad stuff about them. Covenant - not to SLAM them - but there's a lot of negative stuff around the inter web - while it can't all be TRUE - it can't ALL be LIES either. Arnold - Haven't heard anything too terrible about them either.
Remember - year one - you are MEAT IN THE SEAT. It's a TIME TO LEARN THE ROPES, and PAY YOUR DUES.

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
I need for someone to suggest a trucking company for me to apply to. I have worked for 5 companies in the past 12 months, including USA Truck, Werner, Celadon, Arnold and Covenant. I left all of them for legitimate reasons, but many companies will not take me because there have been so many companies. If anybody knows a company who would take me, please let me know. I have never had a DUI , never had a felony or misdemeanor, and my CSA score is 0.
Hey Patrick I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I'm considering use truck and I'm about to finish school, what are some pros and cons with them from your professional and personal point of view?

I honestly think your chances in trucking are over. 5 companies in the past 12 months is just insane. Saying that you left them all for legitimate reasons is total bullcrap. I think you're a borderline job hopper and you're never satisfied, addicted to going where you think the grass is greener.
I'm sorry to be harsh by you really did shoot yourself in the foot - or in the head in this case. It's hardly ever acceptable to have three company in one year but you've done 5, and to say they were all for legitimate reasons is just icing on the cake.
If I were you I would get out of trucking for at least a year and try again then. Until then think about what you could have done different. Quitting the company is never the answer and this is the end zone when you follow that path.
It takes a lot of money for trucking companies to hire students. They pay for that transmission you wreck in school, they pay for that expensive fuel, hotel, food, DOT physical exam, drug testing. In fact, it takes months of you running solo for them to go even - and that's if you don't hit anything!. Considering how you left prematurely at every company, you were a negative for all of them.
No company will touch you. You can try mom n pop companies on Craigslist but if I were you I would step away from the industry for at least a year and hope that you'll be employeable then.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
I'm going to mirror Daniels comments here. I have read your posts on these forums and have found a common denominator. Your attitude. It's horrible. You can't drive nights, are pretty picky about who to team with and change jobs with the wind. I'm going to come right out and say it. Get out of trucking. Work on starting your own business so your high expectations of others don't get in your way. Sorry bud but you can't change the world to suit you. Good luck.
5 companies in 12 months? WOW! legit reason or not that is a lot of job hopping. I would not hire you with that kind of track record. You need to learn to play by the rules of your employer and not what you want to do. You can do anything for a year. Heck with an average of just over 2 months per company you did not even have time to get your own truck. The bigger issue is probably in the mirror, you might want to take a good hard look and see if you can find the problem.
