Marten driver runs me into the shoulder then brake checks me. All for moving over to give space to a truck entering the interstate.

April 03, 2015 02:30, the time on the video says 01:32 but I haven't changed it for daylight savings time yet. This is in Kyle Texas on I-35 southbound by exit 213, Marten trailer number is 21720 I couldn't see the tractor number.

Traffic was light being that it was in the middle of the night and I did not cut him off however he may have had to either slow down or move over before I got back to the right lane. There is 3 lanes going our direction. I wonder how this guy handles driving during the day when we get cut off by 4 wheelers several times.

After he brake checks me I'm trying to check my load in the mirrors and I can't see much since its so dark (I pull a flatbed). I had a fuel stop 20 miles later and checked the load, and the whole load shifted forward 3 inches. Other than that it looked fine and when I make my delivery in the morning there was no damaged product. You gotta be a real piece of work to brake check a another truck especially a flatbed.

Marten Driver Cuts Me Off And Then Brake Checks Me

At night a Marten Transport truck cuts me off, runs me onto the shoulder, and then hits the brakes right in front of me.

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

You should have called Marten, given them the trailer number and a link to your video. He'll be driving the shoe leather express after that little stunt.

I went to Marten Transports website and sent a link to this page to every email link on the page. There were 6 email links I found. Hopefully it reaches the right person there. I went to their facebook page also, it wouldn't let me leave a link so I just wrote trucking truth online forum crazy marten driver road rage. I prefer not to make phone calls but if there is no response from someone there I might have to.

I might beat you to it. That was downright stupid of that driver.

Folks, this is why a dash cam can save your career. It is the best insurance you can get and its under 100$! If Chris would have hit him on that brake check he would have no proof of the actions of the Marten driver.

Wow, that's scary! Glad you're ok and the load didn't come through your cab. I would definitely follow up on this. I've seen other carriers pulling Marten trailers. Are you sure it was a Marten tractor? Marten should be able to find out who was driving from the trailer number in any event. Hopefully it was one of theirs, will make it easier for them to fire this guy and put it on his DAC. I would ask them to make sure to do that - I don't want to meet this guy on the road.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

I decided to call their safety dept and leave a message, so I'll see if anything happens with that. The tractor was the same color that Marten trucks are, hopefully they can figure it out by the trailer number.

Haven't talked to you in a while, how's Prime treating you these days?

Would you toss up some links to a couple of solid models. I have no experience in this hardware ... you're right... It's a good idea to have one...

Any brand/model at the truck stops would be great. If you want to be cheap then get a Top Dawg brand dash cam. That's the kind Chris is using. As you can see, it's not perfect at night but you get what you pay for.

That trailer number stands out really well. Sure he won't be too happy by Monday afternoon.
