I don't think so. I'm so sick of hearing how "we have to raise gas and diesel taxes to pay for highway funding because the gas tax hasn't been raise since 1993" I DON'T CARE WHEN THE TAX WAS RAISED LAST! The American people pay enough in taxes that the important things should not be a problem. I think politicians should pull their heads out of their backsides and stop spending the money they don't have. Just Sayin'.

The question to ask of Congress is; has every penny of the fuel tax been used only for road maintenance, repair and/or improvements since 1993? In other words, has Congress allowed the "appropriation" of those funds at any time to be used for anything other than roads?

Sadly, I think even the most un-informed person knows the answer to that question. i think any new tax should include language that that money can *only ever* be used for Roads & Bridges and never get appropriated or "borrowed" for other purposes.

The question that should be asked is "why are you talking about raising any tax when you just slashed the income tax rate for the top 2%, and eliminated the dependent child credit that so many working families rely on?"

No more taxes! The interstate system started as, and still is, a Federal program yet when we cross state lines the road surface changes. So, the states have been handling the upkeep of the roads on their own (with fed tax money help). Why not just leave it up to the individual states to raise the money for this?

I do not want the feds in on anything except the defense of our country, like it should be.

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).
