NOT cool.... How can you tell thats happening ?
There is a way to unlock Android phones to enable tethering on them without the provider knowing, currently I have my phone plugged into my PC and using it to access the internet. I do have an unlimited data plan though so if you, and you have a limited data plan, that you set a limit to your data usage so you do not go over your data limit, I would leave like a gig and a half free to cover what you do on the phone in a normal month just to be safe. If you must use a public wifi make sure not to store your passwords on the machine you are working even if it is yours, and set you sharing settings to none to ensure no one is getting your information.

With Gmail you can set it to alert you of someone accessing an account from an unknown IP address over our phone, usually in a text message or secondary email. Good rule of thumb is that after you have used a public Wifi change any password that you have used on it from a device not connected to the Wifi in question. I would never access anything like bank accounts or other important personal information over a public Wifi, while it might not happen nine times out of ten it only takes one to mess you up for a long time.
For me I tried to run just my data after the crappy WiFi and could not get anything.
Then my google account notified me of a failed connection.
I have always known the dangers of free WiFi. Just got a reminder.
I have had several friends get the credit card numbera stolen using them at truck stops. You have to be careful with everything out here as we are easy targets.
Part of the reason I don't use the wifi and leave my phone invisible.
Good info. Forgot that I could hook up iPhone to computer for wifi. Need to increase iPhone gigs. Have only 3 gigs right now

Yep, that is the best way to go.
What other ways can I get wifi when trucking? I'm going to try hooking my iPhone to my computer. Instead of using my iPhone, Is there a prepaid card I can buy? I think it was "millenicom" that has a prepaid card. Anyone have info on this?
Btw- Just got done with Prime orientation, and waiting to get a trainer assigned.

Stop at a "big" truck stop last night. Try to get on their WiFi and takes a few. Next thing I know someone else is trying to access my email and Google accounts. Be wary fellow travelers...........
