I graduated from roadmasters on 7/29/2015. I choose Werner to drive with starting off. I leave on Aug 10 for orientation. I feel homesick already and have not left. Anyone have any advice?

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

What's your family situation like? Single? Girlfriend? Married? Kids? Living with parent? Depending on those factors, advice will vary.

that sounds like me... I too am single, have no kids, love to travel, love road trips. I plan to get rid of apartment and throw my stuff in a storage unit when I start my career, just live on the truck. when I use things like home time I'll just stay in a hotel... cheaper than my apartment that would get used for a few days a month. geee $700 a month plus electric, cable and internet for 3-4 days of use each month or $400 max on a hotel with all of that covered per month (I could prob get away with closer to $250 a month for a nice hotel, even cheaper if i went motel 6 route... eeewww).

It's not rocket science that keeping my apartment would be a waste of money.

Keep communication open with whoever is at home if you're leaving someone to go on the road. Skype, phone. You'll adjust. Just don't make any sudden decisions without sleeping on it first. Once you get through a year, you can maybe see about something local.

Motel 6 has finished up renovations on all of they're franchise hotels and they really aren't all that bad. Especially considering you're just paying for a clean bed and warm shower.

As far as getting used to the road, it's a joint effort that takes work and a woman who understands. You'll get homesick and miss the family, that's where communication comes in. Keep that line open and stay positive.

All of their locations are done now? I remember when they started doing it back in mid 2012. The changes sound nice but I'd still be a bit iffy on things like bed bugs. it's not the motel's fault it's travlers who bring them and don't take them all with them. very expensive to get rid of them properly and unless someone reports them the best of hotels can't know they are there since they are mostly nocternal. also because bites don't usually have symptoms for about 3-4 days they have already become a major problem for the victim and motel by the time you could report them.

i have had to deal with them in the past before, not at a motel 6 but it's one of those things i'm very cautious about now.
