Does anyone have any information or opinion of NTI vs ProDrive in Scarborough, ME? I haven't been able to find out any cost comparisons (or any numbers at all) using the web. NTI wants to meet with you before telling you the cost, which seems like a bad sign, but maybe it's worth more? And I wasn't able to get a hold of anyone at prodrive.
Are you set on local school? Several companies will give yo a bus ticket to their Company-Sponsored Training . Problem is, Maine isn't really a big state for truckling routes or pickup/delivery (except for L L Bean, maybe)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.
The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.
If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.
Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.

I'm going to explore that option as well. But I know there are at least a couple of active members here from Maine, so I thought I'd see what they had to say about training. I think one of them (Heavy C or something like that) got a local job, which would be cool.

Still interested in opinions, but I thought I'd add that a friend of mine who is also interested was told by Pro Drive that they don't really have a CDL-A program, but you can pay for time in a truck with an instructor, or something like that. So it looks like in Maine it's NTI or one of the college programs.

Hey KH. So I attended NTI in Scarborough. Good school. I actually think some if the instructors have changed since I went. Joe the lead instructor is still there though and he was awesome. As far as price I paid 6k almost two years ago so that may have changed. I did the weekend course which went longer than usual because I did it during the holidays and winter so there was a lot of breaks. As far as local jobs just remember yes you can! Got more questions or need help with job stuff just PM me.
