Schneider pre employment

Daniel when I took the Schneider pre-employment drug test it was at a clinic near where I live. I believe that is still how Schneider handles all new hires. Good luck!

Has this already been done?

I believe Waze does it, but it is used more by car drivers then truck drivers though I use it for traffic jams.

First contact with possible trainer...spooked now

If she is really training you why would she even ask that question? Sounds more like she is looking to make extra money by teaming you with her instead of training so she gets more miles that week. I would say go elsewhere, but it sounds like your company was not too happy about you sleeping while she was driving the truck. So when does she sleep? While you are driving the truck? I am still waiting for someone to explain to me how you can even consider it training if your trainer is sleeping while you are driving and you are sleeping while they are driving. This is called Team driving, this is not helping a new driver learn how to drive a truck.

Lives matter movement

Honestly I would put this in the category "The sky is falling". Bad stuff happens evwry day and good things happen every day. The media reports the bad stuff, it keeps their listeners/readers tuning back in. The good stuff no one cares much about. You can't go through life worrying about every potential problem that may or may not exist and may or may not happen to you. The odds are so small it is not worth the stress waiting for something to happen that most likely will not. The best you can do for yourself is to prepare your truck and you for the things that do or could happen like breakdowns, bad weather, etc. Keep supplies on hand for bad weather and some tools for breakdowns. And if you are concerned about your truck and you being attacked by unruly mobs, we'll as Clint Eastwood said in Pale Rider "nothing like a good piece of hickory"

Looking to switch companies

There are some big trucking companies whose drivers wish to be able to drive at 65 mph. My governor is set at 61. I heard recently that there is talk on the federal level about governing all big trucks at 65 mph.

ROOKIES, BEST ADVICE I HAVE GOTTEN

I can't remember who told me this when I first started driving, when parking in a truck stop always back-in to a spot with a rig parked to your driver side so there isn't an empty parking spot on your driver side as that I would be the blind side rig for someone backing into that spot. So about a month into driving I pull into a truck stop, I back into a spot with a rig parked on my driver side and there were 3 spots in a row on my right open. About 10-minutes later a driver backs in to my riight, but one empty space apart from me. A little while later another driver tries to back into the spot to my right between me and the driver who had pulled in after me. He ends up hitting the other truck, on his blindside, and puncturing the guys fuel tank.

Of course there are many times I will pull in next to a truck on my left and they will pull out within an hour of me parking and leave so I now become the blindside truck for the next guy pulling in.

Feels good to be home!

Man with all those challenges on the road it feels great to be home for a few days. This job takes a toll on me mentally. Some days I'm about to lose my S***! The some days I'm loving it. Man one thing I absolutely hate is getting a load that is already late & having to deliver it. Or getting a load that has to go 8 hours away but have an appt time 3 hours later...like HOW am I supposed to do that? (Takes deep breath). Ok I'm good now. But anyways glad I can get away from it for a few days & gather my nerves together. As some of you know I'm from & live in Baton Rouge & man must I say it is CRAZY down here. So much going on right now, but I won't go into details with that since it's not trucking related. But other than that I've been great! Also one thing I have noticed as well when the miles are good I need to save my $$ for those weeks where the miles or not so good or even worse a breakdown!(which I've had). I had an $1100 gross week last week but this week looks like I'll only gross about $400. I know I know it's trucking. I just have to learn to manage my money better. Thanks for listening guys!

Always good to get home for a few days, though yesterday got home about 5 pm and there was a birthday party going on with about 30 people over to our house. Took a few minutes to kind of unwind and get caught up in the middle of the festivities. One of my buddies brought over some cigars, we cracked open a few Guinness and life was good. Enjoy your break!

National Gym Memberships

This is an old thread on Fitness LINK

Older thread on subject above.

There was a guy with Anytime Fitness who I read somewhere (I thought here) talking about how many of their gym's were pretty accessible for trucks. I have never seen anything from Anytime Fitness except their App. I guess you could use that along with Google Maps (Satellite view) to see if you can find parking near one. I believe they have over 1,400 clubs, all 24-hour. I don't use them. I have a couple of 20 lb dumbbells, 4 or 5 resistance bands and double loop strap that I can loop through itself and the truck or trailer and use the resistance bands for doing rows, chest press, etc.

The biggest complaint I have seen...

I get home every weekend. I am on a dedicated account. I would never do OTR as I want the home time every week. It really depends on what you want and what is available in your area and with your experience. I have been on my dedicated account since I got out of school.

The biggest complaint I hear.... I can basically sum it up as "The grass isn't always greener on the other side." Drivers complain about the company they are with and believe Company XYZ would be better, yet drivers at XYZ are wanting to get out of there and go to another company. It especially seems true with newer drivers.
