You must go through the PSD portion of training. They will in no circumstance let you move into the TNT phase without completing the PSD program (unless you're coming in with experience).
It can take a while to get an instructor, I would ignore the strep throat and eagerly search for an instructor - you could be stuck waiting for weeks!
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
I have completed the first week of PSD and didn't get a call from a trainer, which is no biggie. Currently waiting to get into the doctors office at millennium. I have been wondering though and hopefully someone can answer. I would like to know since most of this week probably will not make it to the pad being I think I have strep throat and will definitely no go out with a trainer. So in two weeks if still not got a call from a trainer, will prime go ahead and test you out and move you into the TNT portion of training or do you still have to wait for a PSD trainer?
1. You need Doctor release, that you are well and ready for PSD
2 No you will not skip PSD
Primes' training: A PSD is 75 hours or 10,000 miles B Then pass tests- get CDL class A license C TNT- 30,000 miles team driving

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

Strep throat- Antibiotics are commonly used to: Kill the bacteria and shorten the time you are contagious. You are typically no longer contagious 24 hours after you start antibiotics. http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/tc/strep-throat-treatment-overview
I'm currently PSD going to test next week. 1. Don't rely on a trainer calling u. i had only one trainer call me ansd he wanted a man. Go to the pad and actively look at the trucks and trailer for pre trip..the trainers will find u. They want ppl who want to learn. There are ppl there waiting for weeks bc they smoke on the side lines and chat without showing true interest. So the trainers don't want to wastep their time. 2. Prime is trying an experimental group now....they do not go out with trainers before the test...they do backing and stuff on the pad. They started a week before me and some still have not passed. They put some ppl who didn't find trainers in this group after 2 wks of being at campus inn. 3. There is no longer a 75 hour wait period Nor miles requirement before the test. It is a 14 days waiting period from the time u get ur permit til the test. If you feel comfortable...then u can test 14 days after the date of ur permit. I was one of the first to pass my written test....so I got my permit on Wed. My class finished friday..I met my trainer on Monday and we went driving. I was told I could test in 1 wk if I wanted. That would have been stupid tho. So I'll have 3 wks on truck by test. Trust me...you want to be on the road and not test too soon..saw ppl do it and fail. Too many ppl failed the pretrip too..so know it. Don't forget the brakes test...it's an auto fail. Get well soon.

I had been wondering about that as well for some time. I have just been more interested in going to the pad for a week or two and if still don't get a PSD trainer, hope they would let me test and move onto TNT. The changes to the pre trip made it a challenge at first but a nice refresher I just don't understand why checking play in the steering column was dropped though. But I will be attending prime east tomorrow and will see how things go.
