I white-knuckled Parley's Canyon on four wheels. The thought of doing it on eighteen gives me hives.

Kudos to you.

Prime was on my short list, but everything I've read says you're out a minimum of 4 weeks at a time. I don't mind 7-14 days, but more than that would be rough... seems like they have great training, which was one of the reasons I liked them.

Well, after training, then passing my pretrip, backing and roadtest - I've been on TNT for a few days now.

The entire process has been great, and I've certainly been treated fairly and kindly by everyone here.

Prime has been wonderful so far and I don't regret choosing them. I'm glad they don't force us to drive in snow that's bad :) and no pet deposit wooo!

TNT:

Trainer-N-Trainee

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.

The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.

The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14ยข per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Tripletdad,

You will find most training companies require you to be out for a minimum of 3 - 4 weeks at a time before hometime. Just remember this is just a stepping stone to bigger/better things after the first year.

Once you get that first year completed without incident (no accidents etc), many new doors will open up for you, whether it be regional/dedicated/local. It seems like such a long time, but it will fly by before you know it.

I started with Prime in Oct 2011. Does not seem like it's been over 4 years already.

So don't let that be a roadblock to getting started with a great company.

Ernie

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Totally forgot about this - been out on my own for almost a month now! With doggy, gaming computer and my good ole music! Loving the road. Girl might tag along someday.

Prime is great, and I love their support.
