A quick Google search turned up SAGE trucking school. I don't know anything about them, but you should start by googling cdl schools in south Carolina. Also plenty of info here on TT.

I found them but page wont load. Ill restart pc
Kevin you don't have to have a school close to you, many Company-Sponsored Schools will get you a Greyhound ticket and put you in a hotel room (with some others) Swift would probably send you to Richmond VA and train you to get a South Carolina CDL.

You will either turn it in to the DMV in Illinois and get a Illinois permit or you will have to retake the tests in Illinois to get a Illinois permit... Call the Illinois DMV tomorrow and ask them how it works...

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.
Hey Kevin, we also have a listing of private truck driving schools here:

Also, about getting your CDL in Illinois.....make sure you speak with the DMV in South Carolina to make sure they'll let you transfer your license back into the state from Illinois. Right now we're kind of in a purgatory where the law says that states must accept skills exams from other states but not all of them are complying right now. South Carolina was one of the states that originally said they weren't going to allow CDL transfers into the state, presumably because they didn't want their residents leaving the state for training and testing. The state and its local truck driving schools lose a lot of money that way.
But the CDL was designed to be transferable from state to state. They're trying to restore that privilege but check with South Carolina to make sure whatever plans a company makes for you will go through ok.

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

You study the High Road Training Program now, take & pass the written test, and get your CDL permit. Then, with your DOT physical, you go to Swift's school. You'll practice backing up (that's frustrating), then you go back to the Swift terminal at Greer for some shifting and road practice.
Then you take your CDL skills test at the DMV , and you get your full bore license.
Next step is Swift orientation. On the second (I think, or the third) day you start earning your first paycheck. On the road you go with a mentor for the 5-6 weeks road training. With weekly paychecks. Yay!
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

I was told from them that being i already have my dot and class a i just come to them and train also that after training i would come back and go to dmv with paperwork and wouldnt have to do skills test pre trip basic and road at dmv that i would just get my picture taken for full cdl.now being im paying upfront i could be able to just stay on road training 5 to 6 weeks wouldnt see why i would have to stay if i paid them unless i wanted my money back just thibking out loud
