This is the second thread I've seen where someone has something to say about a weight stereotype in trucking. Well, the other guy had tips at least, but no respect for anyone out of shape. Why do you want see a bunch of men with 6-pack abs at truck stops? Good luck leading the weight loss revolution.

Exactly. Not to mention, it's difficult to encourage someone to change eating habits and be a healthier pertain when the entire premise of the original post is to berate people. I'd love to see this kid try and keep up with some of the drivers out there. I've gotten to know a few guys in the flatbed world and more than a few in the oil field who would work circles around this kid and put his misconceptions to rest.

Truck driver health is the same as any other "health" issues at any other job. It's all your choice.

Fried and fatty foods are quick, flavorful and cheap. The driving job is 90% sitting in front of a big window for hours at a time. These add up to that part of the Trucker Stereotype.

On the other hand, eating healthy is more than carrots and cardboard flavored granola. Even several truck stop chains have bowls of fruit out, on-site gyms and suggested 1-mile walks. Do drivers take advantage? "I'll take two corn dogs, please.

If most truckers did eat healthy and work out enough to stay healthy, I'd bet that the DOT physical form would not be as invasive as it is.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

You know what is funny? You can see someone that is overweight but eats healthy foods all their lives and lives to be over 90 years old and then you have a marathon runner that dies of a heart attack at 35. I have been overweight my entire life according to the charts. But I only have to go to the Doc like once every 10-15 years for something. I may miss a day of work once in every 5 years from some illness. My dad does not get sick either.

Charles, don't judge a book by it's cover, you will miss out on getting to know some really cool people. I met a guy in Alaska that was around 65 at the time. He drove an old beat up pickup and wore patched up carharts. We got to be friends and as time went by I discovered that this guy was a millionaire. He had sold some land in the midwest but kept the mineral rights and they discovered natural gas under that land.

If I had judged this man by what he wore and drove I would have missed out on getting to know a really cool individual. He is gone now but we kept in touch over the years and he never changed who he was because of the money. He just did not have anything to worry about.

Apparently this guy never walked into a Walmart and had to dodge all the fat-ass cart drivers that ARE NOT truckers.

I happen to have lost 50lbs since starting my driving career a little over a year ago. And if this guy is so damn book smart, why can't he spell, type and construct a decent paragraph?

The reality to it, is that Dad Bod is in, and has been for quite some time, and I'll tell you why.

Rarely does the average female want to date or marry a guy who looks better than she does. She realizes that everywhere they go together, and every picture they have taken, she will be standing right beside him for comparison. Also, everyone knows that the last thing a woman wants, who spent 3 hours in the bathroom getting ready earlier in the day, is to be upstaged by her man.

This is a classic example of understanding how the female psyche works, and actually how simple things can be concerning women, if you just realistically accept the laws of female fizzicks (the female force.)

I actually had a female friend tell me once, the reason most women prefer a man who is taller than them. Yep, you guessed it, it's the size comparison thing again. Some folks think that women want a big guy for protection, but in reality, they have firearms and divorce attorneys for that stuff.

So go ahead, have another corndog. Your woman will thank you for it, and if you get too carried away, no worries. She will not hesitate when the proper time comes, to issue her man a proper exercise and diet regimen.
