Yes, I left Prime yesterday. Home now! Good news is, nothing bad to say about the company. I was just lucky enough to land a local route with another company where I'm home every night. Just had to say, after these few months, Prime has been good to me. Wanted to let any newbies know. They do run you hard, they are pretty well organized and I'm happy to have gotten my CDL with them.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

After lots or reading and research I chose Prime. I start my orientation and training in a week and a half. I know home time can be unpredictable, especially at first. How often did you get home?

After lots or reading and research I chose Prime. I start my orientation and training in a week and a half. I know home time can be unpredictable, especially at first. How often did you get home?

During training it was up to the trainer. My friend and his trainer lived near each other and they were hone every 3 weeks. From Sept to Mar I got home 3 times.

I went solo in mid feb and am company. We are allowed 4 days off after 4 weeks out (earn one day for every week out). Sometimes I go home after 4 weeks... some times I have stayed out 7 weeks. I can bank the days I earn to use them later. I have yet to be denied hometime.... and have been home on the day requested except one time...due to blizzard. I was a day late.

However if u don't request hometime every 4 weeks they won't ask you. They will run you til u ask. I came back out Jun 9th and just put in for Jul 24th. The response was "put u in the book". No hassle. Then they will ask how long I will stay out. I can take 4 days but only took 3 last time. Anything more than 4 at a time they want u to turn in your truck to give someone else.... if u are company. Remember hometime means no pay.
