Hey Swift guys, I am a little fuzzy on the actual cost of training program at Swift. Ok, total cost of program is $3900 right. Ok they deduct $37.50 out of check for 13 months, or about 56 weeks. At this time your obligation is complete. Alright they pay you back the same amount the next 13 months, and it ends up being free. Ok, $37.50 x 56 weeks is only $2100 not $3900. Is there something I am missing? 😂

They match you 37.50 so it's like paying 75 a week.

Yeah I wondered the same thing at first, but if I remember correctly the lady in charge of the contracts told us this or it was at oreintation. Have you decided on swift? Judging by your name you are in NC?

Tarheel, Here it is in a nut shell. No money down. Sign contract to work for them for 13 months. Total tuition is $3900.00. There is a $37.50 weekly deduction from your paycheck. $37.50x52weeks =$1950.00, which is half of the Tuition. Swift matches your contribution. After 1 year your Tuition is paid in full, and you have fulfilled your contractual obligation. If you stay on for another year(or any portion thereof), Swift will add $37.50 per week to your paycheck. After an additional 52 weeks of employment, you have been reimbursed the $1950.00 deducted during the first year, making your schooling absolutely free! It was a no brainer for me. I plan on staying with them for a minimum of 2 years. If all goes well, I plan on staying long beyond that. The longer you spend with any company, the higher your value to them goes up. (Providing you have been a valuable and productive Driver). Seniority with any company is normally a plus for both parties involved. I hope this clesred things up. Good Luck!

In all likelihood if you choose Swift, Richmond Academy is where you will attend. They did right by me.

Good luck!

The arithmetic is a bit confusing, as you've found out. You sign the contract, you are obligated for $3900. So if you quit Swift after school (not unheard of), you have to pony up the 39 Benjamins to make the collectors go away.

HOWEVER

Stay one year and then go searching for greener grass, you have paid out of pocket the $1950 for you schooling, and are free to go.

Then they add in the kicker, Swift will keep paying you that $37.50 till you are paid back, and your schooling is "free", plus you have two years experience to boot!

Cool. Try not to let the intoxicating aroma of the Nabisco bakery distract you too much!
