I love my DirecTv. We usually watch a couple episodes of something we have recorded before going to bed at night. It's also nice when we are on hometime or waiting on a load or being unloaded or loaded. We binge watch stuff off the DVR.

The springfield terminal not only has a gym, bunks, showers, pool tables, a movie theater, day care center, company store, salon/day spa, mail boxes we can rent, shuttles to local points a 24/7 cafe with good food made to order..... but it also has an indoor basketball court where prime owner Robert Low plays with employees everyday from noon til 2pm. They laundry is $1.25 per load much different from $5 per load at TS.

We have huge parties at the terminals for Christmas new years and even Halloween . The kids all dressed up and went trick or treating thru the terminal. Today they are having g a driving competition and a BBQ with free food. They did a special female drivers convention back in april

Every Friday they have a safety meeting which is live streamed to the terminals where breakfast is free to all who attend. The videos are then put on the app for us to see.

I never fear of running out of cash cause if in need I can ask my FM to take a cash advance on my fuel card. This same card can be used in the cafe as a cash advance.

Don't be dazzled by direct TV cause if you are running miles you won't have much time to watch it hahah

Holy crap, man you guys have so much cool stuff over there at Prime! Haha sorry I sound like a little kid. It just baffles me that people have so much negative crap to say about Prime when they clearly care so much about treating their drivers well.

Hey btw I took your advice and got a hotel last night since I'm laying over in Lancaster for the day. I feel so much better after just one night, and I got it for two nights so I can relax in here all day instead of going over to the terminal today. I even got almost half off the price since I drive for Swift. I wish I'd done this sooner.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Baffle:

A partition or separator within a liquid tank, used to inhibit the flow of fluids within the tank. During acceleration, turning, and braking, a large liquid-filled tank may produce unexpected forces on the vehicle due to the inertia of liquids.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

The UT anf PA terminals are much smaller... but they are building up SLC. It used to be an old swift terminal and the plans are to make it like springfield.

I forgot about the doctors office in the terminal. I even got my OB/GYN stuff and blood work there ND never had to take hometime ;)

Here's a video... Prime main terminal

Glad u feel better ;) be sure to use the DST app for truck hotels and rbe y give CDL discounts

CDL:

Oh... and they made a big deal about the mattresses... expensive memory foam that we got to pick plush or firm. I HATE memory foam and it felt like a rock I sank into. I bought my own mattress for $500 and damn if it wasn't the best thing for me.

Other people love the mattresses though. Our owner wants us relaxed and rested.

Hahaha. Well... referrals are another perk and bonus we get... so give my name hahhah

Referring to the "negative things about prime" comment. I truly believe those come down to 2 things... 1.) People who couldn't handle training/trucking in general. 2.) People who went straight from getting out of training into leasing. If you don't know the industry don't try to be a boss.

I've said b4 ... major prime myths:

"As a women you won't find a trainer or it will take 5 weeks or more." Negative. Took 2 days.

"You will be forced and pressured into a lease" '--- Negative. I was asked once to determine my truck and dispatcher. . He only handles company drivers

"You will be forced into a lightweight as a rookie" Negative. I have a condo like the trainers with the upper bunk and extra cabinet room.

"You won't get any miles the first month. Expect 1200 per week" Negative. My first week solo was like 2400 miles.

"You won't get hometime unless you go lease" Negative. I get home on time or even early. Once i was sick and only 100 miles from home so they let me go that day. No questions asked, no doctor note required. At the post office they'd expect a note from jesus Christ if you didn't show up cause of the rapture.

I truly love the company as you can tell. The problem is that MOST people love their company or they would have moved on. I planned on staying the year and trying for local. But prime changed my mind in just a couple months.

Another perk is that it is so easy to meet other prime drivers willing to help you. 24/7 I have people I could call.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

It's funny, I was just thinking about a similar perk that I forgot to post earlier. The longer you stay with a company, the more likely you are to get to know other drivers in your company or even your specific division. Last night I walked into the Lancaster terminal and had a good chat with another driver I'd met a few weeks ago. We'd exchanged numbers back then but never texted so it was good to see him again. I've also run into other drivers I've met out here--one of them was the one who helped get me on the Miller Coors fleet.

I enjoy being alone most of the time, but that doesn't mean I don't really like meeting and getting to know other drivers. It's a really nice feeling when you walk into a terminal and recognize a few people. Makes it feel more like home.
