DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

He did it to avoid hitting children.

Hmmm. Can't make my mind up about this one. Not enough information. It's great that he made a good split second decision, but how fast was he going?

"WTOK reported that the truck driver, Deandre Smith, was driving a tractor trailer and was unable to stop in time as he approached slowed school traffic in front of Enterprise Elementary School. In a split second decision, the driver steered away from the group of children and instead drove into the church."

I kinda got that feeling as well. Seemed like a distracted driver who was not paying attention and got extremely lucky.

Thank you Paul and gtown for saying it. I wanted to say something but every time I typed something it sounded really judgemental and bad.
