Hi All,

I am new here, but here goes. I have been in the roofing supply industry for a good 2.5-3 years. In this time my License has been suspended since 2013. I just had it re-I stated this past year 10-11-2018. I am currently employed with ABC Supply Co. Inc. I filled out their paperwork to get into their Driver Training Program for a Class A CDL(Florida). I went and did all the testing to get the permit on my own. They accepted me, my background is less than stellar with a felony non-conviction in 2013 also. Today I go for my drug screen, so I. Am start training with ABC free of charge just have to sign on for a year. Best bet get with a company and use their program. Much Success to you Harkley.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

You do realize that CRST is teaming only right?

After your trading phase and seeing how cramped it can be with no privacy and then you go teaming for the remaining time with them again no privacy.

So I know beggars can't be choosy, but still think about it. I wouldn't want you to loose the opportunity for your upcoming adventure to be short lived by doing teams. Just a thought.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

I'm sorry Antonio, nobody can hire you as a driver while your license is suspended. You'll have to get that issue straightened out first.

Unfortunately with a suspended DL you cant work as a truck driver as Old school said.

It's an incentive for people to take responsibility and follow through with an obligation to support their offspring.

Moe, it's called leverage. It doesn't work on everybody. Some people will go for years with a suspended license. We've had a lot of inquiries on this matter.

That I can understand, but if someone is in a hard spot genuinely -health, job loss in this economy etc. Seems counter productive to me. But it would for sure be a wake up call if one were genuinely skirting CS obligation. Then again some then don't care and I understand that too.

They don't suspend your license for falling behind a month or 2 on child support. The system will work with you if something like that happens. My nieces dad is on disability due to a workplace accident and will never work again in his life. His license hasn't been suspended. Instead any time he gets a lump sum of money such as a stimulus check or injury settlement my sister gets a large % of it. I hate to group everybody together but most often if it's gotten to the step of suspending your license or in some cases going to jail (contempt of court) you're trying to dodge your obligation.
