It's gonna come quickly at this rate! A few stats for this forum just for fun:

This new version of the forum has been going since mid February - about 8 months - and we've had:

1,632 conversations with 13,948 comments from 616 different people and a total of 635,000 pageviews.

Pretty great for a forum that's only 8 months old, replacing one that was over 4 years old.

My favorite thing about this forum is how encouraging, supportive, helpful, and respectful everyone is. I frequently visit various forums on various subjects across the Web for advice and information and I've never found a place that's anything like this. The people we have here with us are just incredible.

And on that topic - I want to let people know that last week Tracey and Daniel were both promoted to Moderators because I feel they truly epitomize the type of people that we need guiding new drivers into the trucking industry. Old School has been a moderator for quite some time now and of course Starcar has been a Moderator since we started this new forum and has been a phenomenal help for a long, long time here at TruckingTruth.

If I had kids of my own and they wanted to become truck drivers I'd be thrilled to know that any of our four moderators would be there guiding them into this industry. I'm hoping that everyone considering a career in trucking will recognize the value of their advice. If you're here hoping to figure out how to get your trucking career off to a great start, these are the kind of people that are going to help make that happen.

Thanks Brett. It is as I said before a humbling honor to be a part of something so awesome. To be a part of a group of such kind, respectful and caring people is a blessing in its self. Daniel has an insight that amazes me each time I read his post. He has a wisdom that exceeds his years. That is very rare these days. StarCars spirit is very beautiful indeed. It is very evident in the words used in each post. And OldSchool, well the depth of knowledge is insurmountable.

We truly have a very special group of people here that give great advice and are true stewards of the trucking industry. Their service to their fellow drivers is beyond measure.

Congratulations Daniel. It is a honor well deserved.smile.gif

And thank you StarCar, OldSchool, RedGator and the many other moderators that have helped me and given me such a rich and blessed experience.

Ahhh Shucks, Brett...Its hard to make a crusty old Lady Trucker blush embarrassed.gif Being on TT has been more than "something to do". When I was on the road, I used to think there was no help for the trucking industry....And now I know there is !! Its not trying to change the industry, its all about CHANGING THE TRUCKERS going into the industry. And i'm proud to say, that I truly enjoy guiding and imparting any wisdom that I have gleaned from to the road to whomever is listening. With todays economy, Trucking has become a haven for older people who can't get a "regular" job..I know, they say that there isn't age discrimination...well let me tell you, its out there and alive and well in the job market. And for women who can't make a living waiting tables, or cashiering a WM..theres is another choice. And we have the privilege to help mold the new truckers going out on our highways, to make them a professional driver, not just a "trucker". I, like the other contributors here on TT take that job seriously...and we have fun doing it !!! SO truck on TT...we are here for the long haul.

I can only speak for myself, but I am REALLY glad Brett has managed to attract all of you "seasoned" drivers to this site. I appreciate the support, the behind the scenes, and first hand experiences of all of the moderators, new and old have comments that have been insighful, and encouraging, this type of forum simply isn't found in public forums anymore and I hope it always will continue to remain as such. Heck maybe one day I'll be able to add my 2 cents with someone else thinking the same way about me. I test for second time this Sat the 26th, I will not repeat past mistakes and God-willing I will be testing for my endorsements and getting my CDL in hand next week.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I too am very grateful for Trucking Truth. Trucking Truth helped me when I needed guidance and its always positive to read about other peoples experiences. Its been an absolute pleasure to be a part of it. I think we have gone a long way and we are definitely growing. I believe we have an amazing group here.

But it extends far further than leading new drivers into the industry at Trucking Truth. We also have to carry it to the road with us. We have to make the professionalism contagious. Just because you're a truck driver doesn't mean you have to be dirty and miserable. Those that are current drivers (like me) need to also carry it on their shoulders. One rookie driver at a time, we can eventually change our saturated image.

Its been a pleasure to be alongside everyone here!

Dave D.

You have to remember that everyone had to start at the bottom. Coming into the industry not knowing anything. Everyone was there before. One day you will definitely be the one answering the questions. We all learn it. One day at a time, one mistake at a time.

I was exactly where you are a year ago. I remember it just like yesterday. I was so mislead. I remember constantly asking questions for Brett, Starcar, Guyjax, Guy Hodges, James, Old School, Truckermike. And I was pointed in the right direction. We have all been there.

Without Trucking Truth, I don't think I would have made it in trucking! Thank you all!
