What if you break it down a little bit? Take off the seat and front tire, mount the frame in one place, the tire in another, and the seat inside?

I'm glad this topic was brought up because I had just gotten into mountain biking (I say mountain loosely as there are NO mountains in Louisiana...) this passed spring and was hoping for a way to get back into it once all the training is over. I also plan on bringing my hiking boots with me to!

There is a guy on here earlier who attached it to the back of the cab and one of the handle bars bored a hole through his cab. If you bring your boots don't forget to treat them periodically with waterproofing spray so they will last longer. I treat mine every time I am home.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

You mean you may have to go LTL to clear the scales???

I bet your worst nightmare would be an automatic light weight truck!!

😉😁

LTL:

Less Than Truckload

Refers to carriers that make a lot of smaller pickups and deliveries for multiple customers as opposed to hauling one big load of freight for one customer. This type of hauling is normally done by companies with terminals scattered throughout the country where freight is sorted before being moved on to its destination.

LTL carriers include:

  • FedEx Freight
  • Con-way
  • YRC Freight
  • UPS
  • Old Dominion
  • Estes
  • Yellow-Roadway
  • ABF Freight
  • R+L Carrier

Wasn't it Daniel B. who posted a video on TT showing how he secured his bike on the back of the cab? Also the folding bikes are awesome and would be easy to store inside the cab. My daughter has one. Ive also seen drivers have the small razor type scooters that have a small motor... pull start like a lawn mower.

What about stowing it on the top bunk?

That's the right answer. Keep it in the sleeper because no matter how you try to protect it on the outside of the truck, it will be road grime and weather damaged.

I hope this is OK to post, please feel free to delete if not. There is a Facebook group for trucker's with bikes. I bet they could give you some useful information about how they store them.

Unless your tractor has bunk windows or doors that open, getting a bicycle into the bunk area is almost impossible. Even moving a large suitcases through the front door, over the seats to the back is a real job.
