EASY THERE BISCUIT!

I'm NOT leasing! Success Leasing is simply where us COMPANY Drivers get our COMPANY trucks from.

Don't ASSUME things you don't know bud.

Scared me for a minute there...

WHEW!

Correct - I didn't know that Success is in charge of company trucks too. That seems a little weird.

Well AWESOME on your upgrade. Been following your process since you got here. Keep us posted on what it's like going solo.

I can see where a mis-interpretation can easily be made based on their name. Fact is ALL Prime drivers get their trucks there, company and leasers.

The offices are located within Prime HQ, so I don't know, maybe Prime owns Success.

No maybes about that - of course they do.

I just wasn't aware that they controlled the allocation of company vehicles also. From a litigious standpoint - not good for them. Should they get embroiled in one of these class action lawsuits that have been coming up - the lack of separation between the company/company and the LEASING company, could create an issue. It's also quite likely (from a business standpoint) that Success is the actual purchaser of ALL the equipment, and then "leases it to" Prime Inc. From a tax standpoint - it's cleaner for Prime to simply lease ALL their equipment, instead of depreciating it as an asset. Success handles the purchasing end, does the depreciation and what not, on THEIR BOOKS.

Interesting business model.

Let us know - when you go to "get on the list", if they try and pitch you to lease ONE MORE TIME. We hear from members that Prime is pretty casual about NOT PUSHING the lease.

It is as u just said...Success leasing (who was also mentioned in that Swift article Rick posted about the class action) handles all the equipment.

From what I can gather, prime leases the trucks then sub leases to the lease ops. This gives prime the power to provide shorter leases....say six month or 18 mos... To lease ops who wind up with smaller lease payments and want to "test the waters" of leasing.

It also provides a longer and better warranty from what mechanics have told me.

I was told company drivers could keep their truck until they reach 400-500k miles...or untik mechanical issues are too mich ..which as you stated I want to prolong. However my company driver friend is being taken off her truck of 225k miles because it was "sold". Not sure if that means a lease op is taking it or it will no longer be a prime truck.

Either way, I am not going anywhere. I'm in a jacuzzi room with my cat...paid by the company until at least wed or Thurs. With layover pay. And yeah my pay will still suck.

I have yet to be pitched on the lease option. Only occasionally am I asked "company or lease?", simply for internal reasons. I actually expected to be pitched, but it just never happened.

To the 2-3 week waiting period: It's just a rumor. The lady at Success this morning said I'd have my truck by the end of this week or early next week. So it's a waiting game for me as well, Rainy. But I don't get no dang jacuzzi.....or a cat.

They won't pressure u at all.

Turtle will get assigned a company fleet manager and after that. Its it.

The most "pressure" one gets is the occasional comment in out weekly safety meetings mentioning high paid lease ops for the week. They sometimes try tonoush teaming in this videos as well saying itngets us better customer accounts to be able to get coast to coast faster. But it is never individual pressure like a FM messaging saying "hey so you want to team/lease".

The FM would LOSE money if his company drivers left his fleet to go lease. So trust me, my FM is on my side.

As far as the room goes...the hotel screwed up my first night badly. To makenit up, they upgraded my room to make amends. So prime is paying the regular room price.

You should have demanded a suite. One room for yourself and the remaining room for the cat!smile.gif

Rainy's right. Success leasing owns the trucks and leases them to Prime. The freightliners are bought from the, dealer in Springfield, also a Low company. Might be an interesting business model, but it has been a very lucrative one for Mr Low. He's building a $20 mil home. And that's MO prices, not SoCal...

I'm not sure Mr. Low actually owns Springfield Freightliner - it's shown by MO Division of Corporations, to be owned KC Freightliner (Westfall Odell Dealers - which owns 6 dealers in MO) - and Low is not on the board or listed as an officer. Whether he owned it at one time and sold it - I can't tell from the filings. He certainly buys enough equipment from it, I'm sure. As do a few other trucking companies in the area.

Also separate from Success Leasing is Pedigree Truck/Trailer sales - which sells off Primes old stuff. Success is owned by Mr & Mrs Low, Pedigree is owned by New Prime Inc. (also owned by Mr & Mrs). Mrs Low also owns a bunch of race horses.

As for the HOUSE - yeah, it's a biggun:

Fortune has been kind to Mr Low. No doubt he doesn't stay at the Holiday Inn Express when traveling either...

Nice that he has an open door policy, and plays hoops with the employees. Pretty cool for a guy as loaded as he is.

I ran into my FM at Springfield a few days ago. He's a lease FM and has a small board of drivers so he tried to get me to go lease when I upgrade. Ain't happening lol.
