First I am sorry for re posting same questions before I lost my internet acct and changed and did not know what to do so I created an email just for this forum replies wont double post again I promise.

But I have some questions and hope there not stupid but things I need to know to make a decision.

1. Take Central Refrigerated for instance as suggested to me, if I complete their training and their time with a trainer will I then be allwoed my wife and pet right away? And can they be with me full time all year long? And is that 150 fee mentioned a once year fee? or how does that work?

2. This one is from my wife would we both be allowed in a stop to go into the same shower together? And she asked how often do you all stop and actually use the showers etc is it daily or what as she likes to shower daily as I do to being honest.

3. Do the trucks have any kind of min fridge in them at all?

I am serious about this but looking to actually get going after the first of the year since this year is nearly over anyhow giving me time to set things up for the wife while I would be gone.

4. When you go to a company training program do you go straight from there to on the road with a trainer? and after training would you be able to come home to pick my wife and pet up?

I do appreciate all your replies and advice and again sorry for double posting but now set up an email like I said just for this forums replies.

thank you all Ron and Kathy

Ron, you will go straight on to the road with a trainer after the first training period is over. There's usually not refrigerators provided, but you can purchase your own, or you can use a cooler. They will allow you and your wife to go into the same shower, but you can also get a team shower which allows both of you to have your own individual shower room. You will get credits on a card from the truck stops that you fuel at so that you can shower for free. I don't think they will allow the cat in the shower though. rofl-1.gif

I'll let someone else answer the specific question about Central since I don't know that answer.

1. Yes. As soon as you go solo you can bring your pet and wife with you. But first make sure you get the privilege. Don't bring your wife then get the passenger policy. If you do not have an authorization from the company stating that you are allowed to bring Kathy then it is against company policy to bring her and you will be terminated if you are caught. So buy the pet and passenger policy first, then bring them along. They can both be with you all year long. That 150$ fee is a one time fee taken out of the next paycheck. It's just a one time paycheck deducted from your paycheck. Upon purchasing the passenger policy, you are allowed to bring Kathy for one full year. After that you have to buy it again. The pet policy also lasts a year and is 500$ taken out in payments of 50$ per week.

2. It's difficult to take a shower every day. It's possible, but difficult. Sometimes you'll be stuck at a shipper or receiver all day, sometimes you'll have to shut down at a small truck stop with no showers. There's just so many things that can get in the way. However, a shower every other day is easily achievable. So you can do your best to take a shower once a day, but expect to miss a day here and there. But you'll pretty much never have to go beyond 2 days without a shower unless you choose to.

And you are given the option to take a shower together or in separate rooms. You can shower together or by yourself. When my wife was my passenger we would sometimes shower together and sometimes shower seperately. Sometimes we just needed space to be honest so we showered seperately. But whenever we did shower together it was great!

3. You can bet that your truck will not have a fridge in it. You'll have to buy a cooler. I got a Koolatron cooler for 95$ and it works great. It's tall enough to fit a 2 liter soda comfortably and wide enough to store a jug of milk. So it has plenty of space. I even keep my eggs in there and it keeps them nice and cold. It doesn't take up much room.

4. No, you usually have to go through a few days of orientation first then you go out with a trainer. Once you pass your tests and get your license then you will spend 3 full days in orientation where they'll try to convince you to lease. Then they assign you your trainer. The trainer can pick you up on the same night or the night after or in a few days - it all depends. As soon as you get promoted to solo they work immiediately on getting you home ASAP. Like I said though, before you go home make sure you get both passenger and pet policy before you take your wife and cat. Once you do, you can pick them up on your hometime.

SAP:

The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Ronald make sure you ask the recruiters those questions when you talk to them. Also if your giving a company serious consideration talk to some of their current drivers. I am in school with Roehl, and I am very happy with them. Their company polices differ from Central's in the rider policy espically. At Roehl you can't buy the rider policy for 6 months after you go solo, so from reading your posts they probably would not meet your personal needs very well. Morale to the story, RESEARCH deeply any company you are seriously considering. Best of luck to you. Remember the only stupid question here is the one you don't ask....
