When you upgrade you can ask your fleet manager if they will allow you to do a payroll deduct for a refridgerator. It's up to their descretion some will some won't. If you are going into a lightweight your better off removing the passenger seat and buying a small one from Walmart since it doesn't have the space for the factory unit
Honestly...wait. you are going to.have to buy chains, load locks and pay back any PSD and apnea costs you might have. buy a $20 cooler with your rewards from a truck stop and get free ice with the rewards for awhile.
I only got my fridge recently. there might be a minimum employment time like three or six months, I dont know. basically.you get a paper from the detail shop, have your FM sign it, buy the fridge from the company store and take the receipt to the detail shop. the cost is $521 installed for the cascadia and they take $100 per week. the Peterbuilt are a different price.
Being new, you might change trucks a bit.which is more installation costs...and.the different truck makes.have different sized fridges.
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
Prime has inverters in the trucks so just buy one from Walmart for 60-100 and you're good. They work just as well and so much cheaper. Just dont get those really really large ones - they struggle to keep cool in the heat in my experience.
Dont let anyone talk you into having to buy a stupid overpriced frig when you can get the same product for under 100$.
As Rainy said, you can get a form from detail, have your FM sign off on it. While at detail, ask them if they have any used ones available. My last truck I had gotten a used one, had it for about a year, ran great, no issues and was $195 installed.
Daniel, I know you mean well, but after talking to several Prime drivers that did just what you suggested they all told me the same thing. The frig you get from Walmart just doesn't hold up to the beating they take on a truck. Everyone said they last maybe 1.5 years, then crap out. So if you are going to want to keep it for the long haul, you might want to consider spending a little more to get something designed for a big truck.

Yes, because they purchase brands like Haier. Inspect the back of the frig and see how secure all the components look. If the compressor isn't attached all around it then pass up on it. I never had an issue with Galanz.
I don't understand these overpriced truck refrigerators. Youre overpaying so much for something that can barely hold 3 subway sandwiches. Theyre so so small, they go right into your cabinet slot which makes cleaning the rear/fan area impossible.
Its just another line of products that shouldnt be priced so high, but, because we are truckers and people think we are swimming in cash so theyll overcharge us knowing full well we will still gladly pay whatever they want for it without looking around.

I bought a dometic personal size freezer from Amazon for about $330. It's awesome and can be used as a fridge or a freezer. Best of all, no install required and I can move it from truck to truck or use it in my personal vehicle. It's quiet, dependable and made to withstand the vibrations of a truck, RV or for marine use.
Yes, I went through several if those Walmart "cheap" fridges. Replace a few and they aren't so cheap. I can store ice cream, frozen meats and veggies etc. This week I'm on fridge mode because I wanted more fruit and salads, but normally use it as a freezer. I also carry a portable gas grill and an aroma cooker with slow cooker, steamer, and pressure cooker options. I also use the crock pot liners which makes cleaning a breeze.

Thats another option. Much more convenient, no installation, and much cheaper while also built to last.

Prime is a business in a lot more ways than one. Along other things, they love selling those overpriced truck frigs, and they absolutely adore those extremely profitable installations. Find out what product and type of product would best fit your needs and budget then go from there but don't jump to default and get one of those overpriced truck fridges because everyone else is. Good luck!
A new driver has enough expenses, so figure what is most important to you. a good mattress is something I couldn't sleep without..I could eat without a fridge lol
I put a mattress on lay away and I honestly think it was aa better investment
Personally I think your absolutely wrong Daniel. The reason these fridges are more expensive is the mechanicals are made for the rigors of our industry. I've always have been a right tools for the right job type of person. Check the prices of the truck fridges from other vendors and you'll see the price is inline with others.
Granted they do make a profit but there installation prices are inline with others in the industry and in fact tend to be lower then truck stops and truck manufacturers.
When needing tires or having something installed when I compare prices it has always been lower or comparable with those in the industry. Also I've found that when something breaks under warranty Prime has always stepped up and replaced defect, not so when at manufacture.'
I've seen so many drivers buy regular fridges and lose entire grocery purchases. I calculate the it would only require 2 times for this to happen before you could have purchased a quality item.
Susan I also have the domestic freezer as well and would recommend it to any one. In combination with my factory fridge my co driver and I can fit a week and a half worth of grocerys on the truck.

As the title says, I am upgrading in 2 weeks, somewhere rainy put how she got the fridge taking out of her checks weekly. I am wondering how do I do this as they are a lot of money to come up with all at once. All help is appreciated very much.
