Congrats Reaper! I hear ya on the traffic thing.. One of the downsides of being on this particular local account I'm on is that I don't have the option of running at night to avoid traffic. Denver was a mess all day yesterday..

Errol, how do you get Google maps to alert you to traffic incidents agead of time? I always check it for traffic, but it pretty much never alerts me to slowdowns and crashes until I'm already in it.

Talk nicely with the Google GPS lady.

Or touch Settings (starting with the three bars), Notifications, Traffic, then turn on Nearby Events and Nearby.

You'll get notifications similar to a text message. Touch on that, the map will show you what's ahead. You do not need to use the "Direction" GPS part to get the messages.

Errol I have those settings activated, but it doesn't tell me about stuff until I'm right on top of it. I can't tell you how many times I'm driving along and encounter a slowdown, and literally right after I come to a complete stop behind the car in front of me I get a notification from Google maps--slowdown on I25.

Maybe you need to do the "talk nice" part instead of saying "Stupid Google"! I get warnings a few minutes ahead of time. I can't think of any other settings that might help.

It works ok when I use the navigation so I guess I'll just continue to use it that way. Oh well..

Hopefully I'll never meet rainy put here haha, but kudos on your first safe run, I'm both excited for mine and terrified

I'm making a list of all you drivers and gonna track you on the GPS. Then throw you in my trailer.... Just got back from Walmart with lots of cooking spices. I'll find you!! Lol

Lol so sorry about the long delay. Been a busy 3000 mile week for my first week. Gonna need a 34 tomorrow. Yes i communicated only on qc. Only exception was when road assist needed further explanation of a trailer issue so i explained myself better. I handled everything promptly and professionally. Im getting impossible loads for the first two then this third one is nice and normal.

To answer the question about if it was a walmart dc no it was a warehouse complex for frozen foods.

Also Waze app will alert you in real time what's ahead as reported by users. Cops, wrecks, vehicles on shoulder, things in road, traffic, construction, etc.

Reaper, welcome to trucking. We spent the past couple of days driving from Miami to Illinois. Thankfully, the worst traffic we hit was the Atlanta ATV Gang. Today being Sunday we drove the interstate through downtown Crashville without incident. I am loving it out here and look forward to my first solo load. Glad you made it safe and legal. My trainer's basic rule of trip planning is "12 hours can drive 550 miles, where will I park this thing?" The most important thing is knowing where you will shut down and have some backup plans in case all goes to hell. Our plans have to be fluid out here. Good luck and stay safe.

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

OWI:
