Turtle, I remember seeing that you had a dorm style refrigerator strapped to the top bunk. How is that reefer holding up with all the bouncing of a truck ? How much noise does it make while you're trying to sleep ?

Any suggestions?

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Yup, I still have it and it still runs great. Other folks have said they won't hold up with the bouncing, but for 7 months now it's been kicking butt on the truck, and I used it for a few years prior as a beer fridge on my porch.

I never even hear the thing unless it's dead quiet in the truck. In fact the other trucks near me in the truck stops make far more noise.

Peak wattage is 400 watts at startup, and much less on standby, so I have no problems running the fridge and microwave or hot plate at the same time on my inverter. The only time I have an issue is when I have my single cup coffee maker going, and the fridge compressor kicks on at the same time, it's sometimes throws a warning beep on the inverter. But I just unplug the fridge for the minute or two it takes to make the coffee.

My wife got the fridge at Walmart a few years ago for approximately $150, so it's been a worthy investment.

I've got one of the 1.7 cubic foot Walmart fridges. Mine is strapped into my passenger seat. Its very quiet and even if I've got the truck off, if I've got my bunk curtains closed I can't hear it at all.

I've got that Coleman 12 V electric cooler, bought it at Walmart. Been using it for four months now, no problems (knocking on wood). It keeps my drinks and my salad fixins as cold as I want them. Its fan is barely noticeable at night.
