Basically you get two chances to pass each written test, PTI, yard skills and road skills tests. Not sure about the addl. $750 though. Since Errol is now an instructor, he's likely to know the answer.
Big Scott and i both tested in MO. State law there says you have three chances to take EACH portion of the CDL Skills test. Therefore 3 chances for pretrip, 3 for backing 3 for road.
The written test was 2 times each section per day for 4 days. If you cant pass the written by the end of orientation you are sent home.
While gou are researching companies, also ask if they teach you the manual. Prime does not...there are no prep classes for the written test which is why the High Road is sooooo helpful

True enough.
But I think Don was referring to passing all the tests at Swift Academy. Precursor to the DOT testing.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
True enough...but he mentioned CFI and Big Scott but then didnt seem sure...so i was clarifying.
I have asked Big Scott the same about CFI. I believe you have 3 chances to pass the actual cdl licensing tests"

I finished the swift academy Richmond. With the swift skills test you have 3 chances. Then you have one more shot to pass. And if you fail that you’re gone.
My post began asking about SWIFT's academy testing and extra days or so to pass, but I got off track when I mentioned CFI. Sorry about causing the confusion. Big Scott filled me in on CFI and Missouri's DOT testing, and G-Town gave me the details about SWIFT and their academy. I'll try to stay on point next time..

Bryan:
You stated "a student gets 3 chances" and "then one more shot". So, SWIFT gives you four chances to pass the skills tests?

Don, sorry, I just reread my reply; at least when I attended the Academy it was 3'tries and fail.
No worries, G-Town.

I was surfing through TruckersTruth last night just reading some reviews/comments about SWIFT's academy. I came across a post by Errol V about the testing part of the program and academic probation, etc.. I cannot find it at the moment, but Errol V stated something to the effect that if a student fails any aspect of their CDL tests at the academy they are placed on probation. If they fail again, a student can pay an additional $750. 00 to continue with further training. Am I misinterpreting this? How many chances does the student get? I will call the SWIFT recruiter (....again!...) to ask, but if anyone knows here, please comment. I apologize in advance if I am misunderstanding what Errol stated completely. I have asked Big Scott the same about CFI. I believe you have 3 chances to pass the actual cdl licensing tests (if you don't hit anything).
I know someone will state, "pass it the first time and you will not need to worry about it." Ummmm....that is true.
