So for my birthday I took my first two jumps on my way to becoming a licenced skydiver. And wanted to know if others jump in their off time? The place I'm being licenced at seemed like they might be cool with me parking at the airstrip as it's a small municipal airport. And since I've been out this time I've been near other places that might also be ok with it but.. Need my licence and the rest of my classes first.. so... anyone else getting high on their 34?😉

Ha ha this title scared me.. Seriously no I have never done anything like that although I have thought about it several times. We actually have a local skydiving center here in my hometime. So what was it like? I am sure you enjoyed it. I can imagine it being the biggest rush you have ever felt in your life. Did you happen to get a video? They do the videos here for an extra fee of course. I am very interested in hearing more about this.

The place I went to has both an indoor skydiving place and an outdoor. For my birthday my wife told me we were going to the wind tunnel so that I wouldn't know what was up.

We get to the place and I spend my time in the tunnel and afterwards tells me we gotta hurry the plane is waiting for us... huh?

My first jump was a tandem strapped to a random instructor as was my wife. And from that jump I decided we were going to stay a little longer than expected..🤣 and signed up for classes

You don't feel like your falling, it's really hard to describe but the wind is pushing back on your body so you don't get the same feeling as if your falling off say.. your trailer.

If you happen to have an IFLY, or Paracelet wind tunnel near you it's totally worth the price!! And I would definitely jump in the tube before going to skydive.

Tandem:

Tandem Axles

A set of axles spaced close together, legally defined as more than 40 and less than 96 inches apart by the USDOT. Drivers tend to refer to the tandem axles on their trailer as just "tandems". You might hear a driver say, "I'm 400 pounds overweight on my tandems", referring to his trailer tandems, not his tractor tandems. Tractor tandems are generally just referred to as "drives" which is short for "drive axles".

And yeah... we kinda got a video but.. well.. we left the plane a bit before the camera guy did so it's kinda poorly shot. But on a positive note the tandem jump we got to jump as the Army parachute team (the acrobatic guys that land in football games) were jumping.

I'm hooked.

I've always had dirt bikes then onto crotch rockets, fast cars, cliff jumping ,scuba diving...

As far as adrenaline goes I've done dumber things on bikes and jumping is a rush but it's also relaxing.

So now my goal is to get my license and get 100 jumps in as quick as possible and make it to Bridge Day in WV to make my first BASE jump... Hopefully this year but I'm not sure I'll be able to do it till next year.

I'm a little disappointed in the clickbait title I thought this was going in a whole other direction lol.

There is a Ifly near me I have wanted to try but so far haven't gone, It looks and sounds fun.

Sorry for the clickbait title... but considering the date I posted it on and the hair and urine sample I had to provide to get my job..

The best I could do to celebrate with the life I lead.

And NightHawk don't wait around for the bucket list, you can always find more things to put on the list but you'll never be able to add time to do more things later.

Case in point.. they have indoor wingsuiting in Stockholm Sweden...

I'd ask why your not jumping anymore but I'm afraid of the answer.

Well, after another 40 civilian jumps and more than 150 jumps ( plus 2 more combat jumps) with the US Navy, I have more than 500 total. With all the broken bones I've had ( zero from parachuting), and having RA in both knees, I figured why risk it anymore. So far, the only things left that I want to try are hang gliding and The Iditarod sled dog race.
