First I’ve heard of it. My company passes the detention pay on to the customer. In my particular line of trucking it would induce chaos. There are several other ways we are paid besides cpm’s.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

So if I understood that correctly, we would only get paid by CPM; no breakdown, layover, detention, sign-on bonus, safety bonus, or accessorials (hand unloading/assisting, tarping etc.)?

This is having todo with The Denham Amendment, which has been defeated in committee 6 times previously. If it makes it out of committee this 7th time, I'll be very surprised. This has been popping up for several years, and I'm not too worried about it in it's current incarnation this time, either.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Even if this passes, which is not likely I do not think, it would not mean an end to accessorials....it would just mean that states could no longer mandate them. It would affect very few, if any, of us.
