A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
61, 62 come April next year. Just finished up TNT training/30,000 miles yesterday. I'm going to team with my trainer through the Winter ~ maybe longer.
Went through a spell of doubt. Good Folks here calmed me down, and got me back on the right and righteous path.
I went with Prime. If your a Vet and provide them with a copy of your DD214 your contractual obligation is only on the Fast Track Program.
Rob Low (Owne of Prime) runs a first class operation. He's a righteous guy.
My ONLY regret is o didn't do it twenty years ago
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
Welcome, Russ! I just turned 56 a little over a month ago and have almost 3 years under my belt. You'll do just fine. Trucking is truly an industry where there is no such thing as age discrimination, unless you're too young lol. Being older has it's advantages here.
I will be 29 tomorrow and I see many drivers who are..... more experienced in life than I. I know we have at least one in his 70s
Russ-
I'll be 66 in January and I'm almost finished with school. So Your AGE is not in question as others have said. You can get a DOT Med card and get your CDL then you'll do fine. Just remember It's an Adventure your taking on!
Good Luck!
